STM's... Are you having a "Sprinkle"?!

My sister and I are big into Event planning/design and today she asked me what I wanted for my Sprinkle! I honestly wasn't sure if I'd even have one, but she said she wants to throw one for me. As much as I'd love it, I definitely don't want a big party (we have a huge family and bridal/baby showers always end up being 80+ people). Are you having a Sprinkle? If so, will it be smaller than your 1st baby shower?

Re: STM's... Are you having a "Sprinkle"?!

  • Yes. It is just going to be a few close friends and family. I think of it as an excuse to get together. I moved a year and a half ago and miss my family and friends from NY.

  • I don't think so. If anything I may do a ladies lunch with my girlfriends, but no invites or gifts or anything like that.
  • I'm not having one. I had DD not even two years ago and have everything I need. Plus, I'm one of those "one shower per life event" people. In addition, there was in-law drama with my baby shower for DD and really don't want a repeat. DD's second birthday party is giving me enough anxiety right now as it is.

  • I'm not having one. I'm having my 2nd boy in 2 years. I really have all I need. Plus my best friend is getting married in 2 weeks and I'm working and I start back school in August so dates are hard to come by. I'm not a "happy to be the center of attention " person. Very similar reasons as @TeacherMom210
  • I am! DS will be 4 in September, and babygirl is due in September.. we are starting ALLLLL over! My step-mom is throwing us a 'baby-q' it's more of a cookout/get together.
  • I am having a sprinkle/shower. I invited most of the same people I did when I had my son. He is only 2 but we don't have anything left from him. My husband insisted we were 1 and done. We are also having a girl this time. I don't think it will be nearly as big of a deal as my first though.
  • I'm not. It's seen as tacky in my circle of friends/family. I saved all of my baby stuff from last time so no need.

  • Yes, the church is throwing us one! It's been 6 years and we weren't planning on more kids so we gave literally everything away about two or three years ago. They didn't give me a choice either- they told me it was nonsense to object :) we've decided to be grateful and excited.
  • I know about the surprise shower that is being thrown for me- and I'm not looking forward to it. It's a very thoughtful and kind gesture, but it's been held in a city where I grew up, but only some family still lives, I just relocated One month ago from the east coast to a city three hours away from where the party
is being held. So most all my friends are in the city I moved from and the guest list is filled with people I haven't seen in years that my family remembers I was friends with in high school/college.This is bound to be awkward and embarrassing.

I'm not. Having another boy and my son is 2 1/2 so I have almost everything I need. The few items I do need we are buying ourselves. One shower was enough for me.
  • I hope no one is planning anything, so far I haven't been asked/told about one. I still have everything from my first 2 children and the nursery is pretty much done, so there really isn't a need. We cloth diaper and I have more then enough (should read too many!) from newborn to potty training, so I don't even need diapers.
  • I'm going home for vacation in a couple weeks and secretly hope I get a surprise one :) we don't need anything, not even diapers (we do cloth) but with my first I was far away and had 5 people at my shower. So it would be fun to have one with family.

  • Nope. My mom wanted to throw me a FaceTime sprinkle and quite honestly the idea made me so uncomfortable I would seriously break out in hives for the actual event. Sooo my mom asked if I would wait to open the gifts people sent until I could call or FaceTime with them individually - which is sounds nice so I am doing that. I would totally enjoy an in person sprinkle, I love parties! Trying to make small talk with multiple people on video chat would stress me out though.

I am having another sweet baby girl so I have a lot of what I need. Anything extra is just nice and I am happy for whatever.

Enjoy your party it sounds fun!
  • I am. My cousin insisted because it's been 5 years since I had my first but it's going to be something fairly small and a few close friends/family.
  • To my knowledge, I'm not. I could see the female relatives in my family doing something small, but no official plans yet. As of right now, my mom and aunt asked me to make a registry of my needs, so I did, and they get me 1-2 things off it each time they visit. It's a very nice gesture. I put two larger items on it so I could use the completion coupon for them, but my mom is insisting on purchasing them for me (which is very sweet).

This. When I got pregnant, my mom said "you know there's no parties for this one, right?"
Ahahahahaha. Omg. That's something my mom would say.
  • I am... My sister is throwing me a baby sprinkle.. Smaller than my first shower I had for my son 5 years ago... Kept most of the big stuff and some clothes. (I'm having another boy) Why not have one in my opinion... a reason to celebrate a new life?!?! Why not!!!!
  • I don't think so. My aunt who has been more like a Mom to me told me she wanted to throw one for me and I told her it was ok. Even though we don't have a lot left from the others, I just don't like being the center of attention. I did have sprinkles with #3 & #4.

To her defense, it was not the first thing she said if it came off that way!!! Maybe like, the next day ;)
  • I am having a small get together with close friends and family. My friends are planning it and it will be much smaller than my first.
  • For #2 I had a tea with the ladies in my immediate family, light snacks and a few gifts. Nobody has mentioned anything for #3.
  • I didn't for #2 because she was my 2nd girl and I also don't like being the center of attention. But for #3 (a boy) a neighbor is throwing a small sprinkle at a restaurant so I'm down for eating with a few close friends. :)
  • No.  I don't need anything.  Someone asked me what I need and I said, "buy me a case of paper towels and the whole aisle of wipes and we should be good."  If it was a boy we would maybe need a clothes sprinkle, but then...one of my friends had 4 boys and is now done, so she could probably just unload her attic into my house....
