Oat cereal

Has anybody started on cereal in formula? My little guy is 16 pounds and eating 7-8 ounces, then throwing it up because he's so hungry - but his little tummy can't handle all that liquid. He also has a bit of reflux. E saw our pediatrician for something else and I mentioned that my mom suggested cereal in his formula and she 100% agreed it was time. Nugget started to get fussy so she told me to do 1/2tsp per ounce, but I didn't get a chance to clarify if that's every feeding...every other feeding. Go back to less ounces. I'm just not sure how to go about feeding it to him without him eating too many calories - if that makes sense. So far I've lowered it down to 6 ounces and adding 2 and 1/2tsp. It seems to keep him full - but still eating every 3 hours. I didn't know if he should go longer in between or what. Haha I know I just need to call them back and ask - buuuut it's a Saturday . So after Google didn't come up with anything super helpful I thought I'd try here!
