Hm, thanks for the feedback about Beckett and Parker being trendy. Maybe it's where we live, but neither are popular here. Plus Beckett is ranked in the 200's on SS website. But good to know! Thanks for the other suggestions!

Trendy doesn't always mean popular. In this instance, these names fall into the 'let's use preppy-ish surnames for first names' category. Collectively, many parents are doing this, and even if the name doesn't hit mass popularity, it may not distinguish itself from other names of the same genre.
Beckett is trendy due to style and usage. It's a random surname and didnt come to the scene until 2006 and since has skyrocketed in usage. The actual rank of a name doesn't always determine the trendiness of it. When a name doesn't have a history of usage as a given name but the jumps at intervals in the 100-200 steps at a time it means it's used heavily. Jackson is another good example of how quickly and trendy a sudden usage can become .
I live in the south and I know a ton of kids with surnames as maiden names. I'm a fan. I like Parker! I work in peds and have only had 1 Beckett that I can remember.
Love Parker. I like Beckett - we originally considered this for our son but then felt like his nn would be Beck which seemed weird (kind of feminine) and ultimately picked Carter. Either is a good name just depends on preference.
