pls recommend your play kitchen

pros and cons? dd loves the fp learning home so i was thinking the fp kitchen but it doesn't seem to provide a lot of counter space for kitchenware and i'm not sure how well it would grow w/her. i am leaning towards getting a more "full-size" kitchen.

thoughts?

thanks!

  • DD got the Step2 Deluxe kitchen for Christmas and loves it (it's on step2.com). It doesn't have a ton of counter space (none of them do, to be honest) but it has 11 drawers plus fridge, dishwasher, microwave and oven for storage, plus a plate rack and a cubby. It is a huge kitchen and we're hoping it will last her for a long time. She plays with it every day and really understands that it's a kitchen - she cooks for us, etc.

  • we got this one from hearthsong and it is SUPER nice!  survived a big move from IL to NY... and my kids LOVE it!  It is big for my son who is around 32inches tall.  works well for dd who is 35+" and they will be able to use it for years.  wanted something for the long hall.
  • I want the one ^!! Hopefully for DD 2nd bday!

  • Step 2 Grand Lifestyle Kitchen....we got it for DD for Christmas and she LOVES it. Heck, I love it. It's nothing like the 1980s kitchen I had! :)

It also has six feet of counter space. :)

  • DS has one of the basic Step 2 kitchens.  He LOVES it and plays with it all the time!!!  We were going to get him the walk-in kitchen by Step 2 because it was $240 at Sam's and came with a table and 2 chairs.  I am so glad we didn't because it takes up so much more space and I know that having extra cabinets and more counter space would not have made any difference in the amount of time DS plays with it.  I would have liked the table and chairs though, but for a lot less, we can get those too :)

The one we got has a stove that makes sounds and we bought fake food to go with it.  It has just the right amount of features to keep him busy.  I would recommend going into a store that has one out of the box and see how long it keeps her interest.  Also, see what things about it she plays with most.  GL, they are a ton of fun!!!

  • My girls are OBSESSED with the FP Grow with Me Kitchen. They LOVE it. Adore it. It's their favorite toy and they play with it forever. It's the perfect height for them now and then we can add a second level when they are taller. It's the perfect first kitchen, I think. We may get a nice wooden one when they are older, but they wouldn't enjoy that as much now since the counters and such are taller on those and they need to pull up.
