Newborn clothes?

How many newborn sets do you plan on getting? My DD was 6lbs 15.8ounces and I don't remember her staying in newborn long. But I worry I'm gonna buy a lot if 3 months and he won't have anything to wear! Also..... How many outfits will you be bringing to the hospital for baby?

My son didn't come close to newborn ! He was 9.7 lbs. I ended up donating all his newborn clothes to the hospitals NICU. We bring 1-2 outfits to the hospital. The hospital will dress our babies for us till its time to go home.

We have a few newborn outfits, my theory being if she spits up or they get super dirty it's easy to change her. If she isn't in them long I'll donate them, I've been buying most on sale anyway so it hasn't been too expensive.

As for the hospital I plan to bring one newborn and one preemie.

My daughter was 6lbs 14 oz, and I can't remember how long she was in NB stuff.  But I remember that she didn't have enough of it.  Most people gave 0-3 months and she was swimming in those outfits.

As far as what to pack for the hospital, I don't even know how long is the minimum that I have to stay in the hospital this time.  Last time I lived in a different town and packed two different bags for two scenarios--one was if I was there only 3 or 4 hours, and the other is if I had to be there a few days.  My "few days" bag was left in the trunk of the car, and thankfully I didn't need it.  My 3 or 4 hours bag included just two NB outfits--one for a girl and one that was gender neutral (we didn't know the sex).

I think I'll try to bring two baby outfits per day for the hospital bag.

I know I make smaller babies (7lb 5oz and 6lb 4oz) so take this with that I mind.  I plan to have about 10-14 total newborn outfits because my kids have worn them for about the first month. That way I end up not doing laundry all the time.  As for bringing to the hospital I only plan on brining 2 gender neutral outfits (we are team green) with us and if something unexpected happens, like the baby is huge or something DH will be at home checking on the other kids so he can grab one of the ones we have at home.

My daughter was 7.14 and was in NB clothes for about 3 weeks or so. I have maybe 5 NB outfits, plus sleep gowns (the ones the are open with elastic at the bottom), and lots more 3 mo clothes.

I'm no help in this department, my boys were preemies so they were in NB for months. I will second the sleep gown. They are so nice for those middle of the night diaper changes!

Anyone else opinions?? We have about 15+ onesies and 6+ footies and 4 pair pants that we got and I washed. Will I likely use them? Kind of annoyed now I washed them all. But baby is measuring on small side so maybe?

DS was 8 lb 7 oz and still wore newborns for a couple weeks. I'm not sure exactly how many we have, but I'd say in the 15-20 range, which is a mix of onesies, sleepers and gowns.

My girls were/are tiny. Both were about 6 1/2 lb and wore newborn for at least 2 months if not longer. They are still small and usually wear a size below their ages. My 2yo is just now wearing some 24mknth/2T

I haven't bought anything smaller than 3-6 months for DD, and didn't really buy much smaller than that for DS.

DS was 3 weeks early and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz, but he was a slow gainer and wore 0-3 for 3 months. We actually had to run out to the store and buy a few 0-3 outfits so he'd have something he wasn't swimming in.

I don't know how big DD will be, but she's been on the bigger side of average at every scan, and I've measured a bit ahead at a couple appointments, and I have GD. So unless I deliver really early, I don't expect her to be super tiny. That being said, neither DH nor I were huge babies (I was past due and only 6 13, he was 7 lbs or so). I'm expecting 3-6 to work for a while. If needed, I can order a few things from Amazon and have them delivered in a couple days, so it won't be a huge problem.

As for buying newborn or 0-3 things, it doesn't hurt to have some on hand, and even if you've washed them, you can donate or consign anything you don't use/don't use much.

I plan to bring at least one outfit to the hospital, for coming home. Maybe an extra outfit for pictures in case we're there for 4 days like I was with DS. DS lived in hospital-provided tees and diapers the first 3 days, and I only dressed him to come home on day 4.

I bought a few newborn sleepers and shirts/pants, just in case, but almost everything is 0-3 months. I figured we'll definitely use the 0-3 at some point, and if we really need newborn stuff, we'll get by with what we have for the first couple of days, I'll send someone out to get more newborn size clothes while we're in the hospital, and wash/wear them when we get home.

I have 8 NB sleepers and 11 NB onsies and I doubt I'll use half of them. I mostly have 0-3 and 3 months. I do have quite a few gowns which go up to 6 months and my friends swear make night changings easier.

I think I have about 5 outfits... and when I say outfits I mean a pack of onsies, a pack of little pants and a take home outfit and maybe 2 sleepers. My brothers and I were all too big to ever be in newborn but I have no idea what this munchkin of my own will turn out to be. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'll be bringing a couple of both sizes to the hospital, I have a "take home" outfit for both sizes.

We found a gold mine of a yard sale earlier this summer and so we got tons of 0-3 and a good amount of NB sized stuff. It was too good to pass up, we got 4 of the big Luvs boxes crammed full of clothes for $75. It had some 6-9 mos, 12-18 mos as well as recieving blankets and burp cloths. And most of it you could hardly tell was used! I washed all of her nb and 0-3 bc I'd rather be over prepared than under. Worst case scenario is she has a drawer of clothes she wont wear, no biggie.

I wouldn't stock up too much on newborn I remember giving away at least two cases of newborn size diapers that I received at my baby shower last time!

Thank you! I didn't receive any nb diapers at my baby shower. Luckily all my guest brought size 1 and size 2 so I won't have to worry for a while! I was thinking I could probably get by with 2 big boxes of newborn huggies until we can make the size 1 work.

My kids were small so they were in NB for a while and my son could have been in premie size if I had them. While they do grow into things and will only wear them for a short time, my favorite sleepers for my son were the ones that actually fit him, even if it was for only three weeks. It might be nice to have one or two things they aren't swimming in.

We're having two so need more clothes than most FTPs would. I've washed probably 10-15 or so NB onesies and PJs, same or maybe a few more of 0-3m. I still have some that I haven't taken tags off of so hopefully we can exchange if they are too big for NB. Even got two preemie outfits at one of my showers, but their weights are so good that I don't think we'll even need them so I left the tags on them as well. I'll probably bring them to the hospital just in case unless we find out earlier that they'll already be too big for them.
