Lets be real, these are the questions that truly matter in life. #realtalk HAPPY NATIONAL DONUT DAY! Treat yo self!! Also, feel free to tell us what your favorite kind of donut is too!
Krispy Kreme vs. Dunkin Donuts - the struggle is real.
I live in the south, but my family is all from the Boston area and I visited frequently growing up. This is a serious debate in my household. I prefer Dunkin. They have more flavor in my opinion. My favorite is the jelly filled munchkin with powdered sugar. It's the perfect ratio of dough to jelly.

You're a saint! I'm from out east too, and I'm all about mom and pop bakeries but Dunkin is doin something RIGHT! Soooooo good, sigh. But to be honest, nothing can compare to a hot Krispy Kreme glazed. But pretty much ALL of Dunkin Donuts is good. Even those hash browns.
I think that this is the first time that I have completely had zero respect for what you are saying, @VexyMommy . I'm not sure that I can have respect for someone who thinks that Dunkin is better than Krispy Kreme.
I'm raised donuts all the way, but what exactly is a French crueller? Cause that is definitely my all time fav right now... Cause I could tell you my six other favorites, but I won't
My family would get donuts every Saturday morning when I was a kid sooooo I ate a lot of donuts....

Edit: ironically, gif fail.
Lol. I forgive you. Krispy Kreme absolutely has its place, like when I just want a warm pillowy sugar delivery system, but Dunkin has flavor that Krispy Kreme just can't match.

A crueller has an eggy base. A Choux dough like eclairs or cream puffs.
I generally lean in the raised donut direction, but I am not actually one to say no to a donut in most circumstances. Except unfortunately, cream/custard filled donuts. I'm not really a pudding/custard person and I feel like it takes away from the simple perfection a donut already exemplifies.
Actually, I take it back. When presented with a cream filled donut, I WILL still eat it, I would just wish it wasn't cream-filled.
Growin up my favorite was raspberry jelly-filled sugar coated donut. But I've never had one since we left that town that tasted any good. I've never had Krispy Kreme donuts, but I hear people say they are great. My favorite is called Canadian Maple. It's like a Boston Cream, but with maple dip instead of chocolate. Boston cream would be a very close second.
Um, crulers, or raised. Cake donuts are nasty. Hot glazed shipleys, mmmmhhhh, or a maple glazed or Bavarian filled. But they all have to be hot to count. Cold donuts are also plain nasty.
Cake donuts. Dunkin all the way.
Krispy Kreme makes me gag, even when I'm not pregnant.
The one time I recall having a Krispy Kreme, the icing was gritty. Personally, I didn't feel like it lived up to the hype...
My rule for Krispy Kreme - only when the HOT sign is on. Or zap it in the microwave for about 7 seconds. (I may have too much experience with this kind of thing.)
We don't have Dunkin or Krispy Kreme where I live; it's a pitiful existence. I don't think Dunkin is anywhere in the Northeast, actually, though I might be wrong. We do get Krispy Kremes here when they're a fundraiser; my dad and I have sat and gone through an entire box, just us, after popping each in the microwave for a few seconds before eating. When they're hot they're like air and you really don't notice how many you eat. I think they use some kind of sorcery to make their donuts.
@emilyealbers you said my two favorite words Maple glazed. I only seem to find them at Krispy Kreme though. And in the words of a favorite of mine...Sad sad. |)

That said, I loooooove French crullers.
Where do you live (ish)? Dunkin is all over the Northeast.
I went BIG on them all this morning. Whoopsies! Unfortunately we don't have a Krispey Kreme OR a realllll doughnut shop where I live. So so sad. These sufficed though.
This may be a dumb question, but what is a "raised" donut? Does it mean glazed? Anyways, I hate cake donuts. Now, I just want donuts!!!
It's okay, I had to google it. Cake donuts are made like you make brownies or cupcakes, with baking soda and whatnot. Raised donuts are made with yeast, so they rise like bread dough and have that kind of airiness to them, instead of the more dense, cake-like donuts.
I'm all about Busken Bakery or Servati's. Any donut is good:)
If anyone lives in Delay Beach, my cousin has a donut cart, Delray Donut Company. Made to order donuts. They look AMAZING. Since I live 15 hours from her, I have yet to taste their deliciousy goodness.

When I moved to Iowa, there were NO DDs here. I grew up in a military family, and we made regular Sunday visits to DD when we lived in Maryland. I did not understand the Krispy Kreme fascination here (and frankly, I still don't).

I always assume it's because they don't know the amazing awesomeness that is Dunkin Donuts.

I remember those trips fondly... *sigh* But the local donut shop I went to today was awesome (I heard it used to be a DD ages ago).
I'm boring and love a simple chocolate frosted donut. If I'm feeling crazy, I'll add sprinkles.
You're my doughnut soulmate. Please leave all the creams and jellies out of my doughnut, thank you kindly. Although I will slam some Krispy Kremes. Devil's food is pretty good too.
Just gimme all the Boston Creme and no one gets hurt, ok? I do miss the chocolate doughnuts my school canteen used to have though...75p's worth of pure cholesterol with a powered sugar coating.
I don't like dunkin donuts or krispie Kreme lol here in Indy we have longs donuts and they are to die for.. I literally stop and get one every Friday before work I get the same old glazed yeast donut and baby alligator (bear claw on steroids) and that's my Friday breakfast lol my baby doesn't like a lot of sweetes but a glazed donut and a baby alligator they will go for any day!! Just like their mama lol I try to be careful now so today it was just a half dozen glazed that I shared with my mom, my sister, and my brothers..

That's because you don't get the icing ones. You get a hot glazed then you will be amazed. I only get there glazed. The hot sign needs to be on.

Hashtag truth.
ETA what is wrong with text blocks lately?!
