My upo is that I can't stand our dogs, they bark like crazy and wake the toddler. They also fight with each other because one is very jealous. Ugh

Omg I have a border collie that is INSANELY jealous. She's driving me nuts. She's cool about the baby, but if my husband or I give our lab any attention at all the border collie immediately bites her. Wtf?? Luckily our lab is the sweetest girl ever, so I look the other way when my toddler sneaks her treats.

    Edit: can't type :/

This sounds like my house..my moms Pom mix is extremely jealous when my chihuahua sleeps next to me..like he wants to be next to the baby but then the fighting wakes me up and they both go into their cages and then they are best friends again..I swear they are best friends one second then enemies the next..my moms Pom mix was also jealous when my chihuahua came home after being fixed and he had the cone on his head and my moms dog got jealous..my response was " don't worry Chewbacca you will get one next week" =))

I don't want a baby shower because I hate being the center of attention...I know it's about the baby but the baby will still be inside of me..which makes me and my stomach the center of attention and that makes me SUPER uncomfortable...

This! Also, if you have a GBCB (Last B could be bump or board) I feel like you should leave for more than 6 hours.

    Dude. Yes. So much yes.

My UO: It drives me crazy when people use pregnancy as an excuse to not do anything even moderately strenuous. It's not a handicap.

My mom thought I was crazy for painting DD2's nursery at 32 weeks pregnant, going on 5 mile bike rides until the day before I delivered, lifting anything over 20 lbs, etc. She would always ask me when I was going to start taking it easy. Never, i'm not a delicate flower!

I do the most I can for that exact reason..I have a really bad back that was planned for surgery before pregnancy..but I still do everything like normal even lifting until my body tells me to stop..I just use a heating bad at night and I'm ready to go..I don't see any point to be treated like a handicap..

I should have included that I in no way mean people with medical issues or complicated pregnancies that are told to take it easy by their doctor. I feel extremely blessed to have no medical issues and have uncomplicated pregnancies thus far. You definitely have to listen to your body. I just think some women are using it as an excuse and not REALLY listening to their bodies.

I'm sure there are plenty of women on bed rest or with medical problems that would love to trade places with the damsels in distress who choose to baby themselves for 9 months.

  • Can I just say I'm slightly jealous of your toddlers only being 23lbs?? Mine is over 30lbs now and super tall! I totally agree that we should br reserved parking in all lots! HOWEVER I also feel that parent parking isn't inclusive of those with kids over 3 for sure! Your kid is more than capable of walking a little ways. Leave the space for those who have to lug someone in.
  • helskos HAHAHAHAHA, that's the best thing I've read today.

Agreed! While my toddler can walk (and is over 30 pounds) I'm still nervous she going to take off running in the parking lot at any point. Even making her hold my hand isn't a guarantee she won't twist and run off!

I understand what you meant and I probably worded it funny but I don't over do it I stay within my limits since I know it can cause major damage but I do understand your aggravation about people wanting to treat pregnant women like little flowers or like a glass..and I bet they would..I was put on bed rest at the beginning of the pregnancy and would have loved to be able to people wait on me just because they know I'm pregnant..

    What's a GBCB @mmk29 ?

My UO for today is all the ladies planning their own showers! This is not for you to plan! Having a friend or family member considerate enough to discuss a couple dates with you is very kind BUT not your choice... Rant complete! And yes, I had an out of town shower for my first baby which a friend kindly planned while I was scheduled to visit :)

THIS!!!!  It is moments like this I wish I could "love it" multiple times over.  For the love of all that is holy, showers are a privilege not a mandate people.

My UPO goes out to stores that have expectant mother parking spots, but no spots for mothers with infants/toddlers.  Yeah, I'm talking to you Babies R Us!  Ummm hello... carting the baby around in my womb was a million times easier than carrying my flailing 14 month old who is half of me in length across an entire parking lot!  Let the pregnant women waddle a few extra feet and spare me the exhaustion of lugging my 90th percentile boy in one arm and my purchases in the other arm.
Yes yes yes. Plus that walking is good when your pregnant. Just totally exhausting with a 20+lbs pro wrestler in your arms. Because lets face it that have crazy strength at that age.

ETA pregnant and carrying toddler should have free valet service for everywhere you go.
Oh the strength is unreal!  It often takes both my husband and I to change our little guy when he is feeling extra feisty.  He is so incredibly strong and it is like trying to change Houdini!

Also, 100% yes on the valet service for pregnant and carrying toddler!  My not so little guy is 23lb+ and half of me in length (32").  My body isn't built for this combo.  Lord help me when we're on #3!
This is even more unpopular: able bodied young people in long ass drive thru lines make me ragey now that I have a toddler. We're 10 cars deep trying to get coffee here, people. Do you know how much faster it would be for you to go in to the counter and shorten the line for those of us who either aren't as mobile or would require unhooking kids, keeping them from touching everything, etc? It's a very simple process for your pretty little 22 year old butt. It's a field trip with 15 steps for me. Get out of the way.
SO MUCH YES! Also this makes me think of Jeremy Clarkson yelling "Get out of the wayyyy" while he smashes his body towards the steering wheel repeatedly on Top Gear.
