what is safe to clean with during pregnancy?
Any tips on this topic?
I just did my normal routine and got to thinking some of my stuff my not be safe.
I'll definitely be at least be buying some rubber gloves to wear from now on!

Re: Cleaning Products

  • I am pretty sure you can continue using the same stuff you always have just make sure the area is well ventalated.

  • I picked up gloves for cleaning the bathtub, but I think dish soap is ok. I agree with the well ventilated comment. That's a good idea even if you weren't preggo!

  • I clean with vinegar, baking soda and mostly natural products anyway. But like others have said, just wear gloves and keep the area ventilated and you're fine.

There are a lot of harmful chemicals in traditional cleaning product. Anything with artificial fragrances probably has phthalates which are bad for you and baby.

I mostly use Honest brand, which you can order online. They also have safe skincare and hair products.
  • My DH whom I love dearly volunteered to do the heavy duty cleaning so baby and I can steer clear of fumes and chemicals. Isn't this the safest method ladies? ;)
  • My husband switch all out cleaning products to Method but he's been incredibly overprotective. I don't know that it's necessary, but if you're looking for an alternative method is a bit more expensive but awesome.

Of course, gloves and good ventilation are good ideas at any time, not just while pregnant.  Even the chemicals that aren't dangerous will still dry out your skin and can be irritants.

  • If you have a Target nearby, I use the brand Method cleaning products. They're all natural. Even safe to be licked (not that you would!). I'm a clean FREAK, so using these products gives me comfort since I use them so often. You can find them with the rest of the cleaning products. :)
  • @kaybeeoh does method have a bleach alternative?

I'm honestly not sure. I don't use bleach very often. I have seen a healthy bleach alternative on Pinterest that you can make.
