May 2015 Moms

Simon John has arrived!

I'm late in posting this and have been totally MIA. But Simon John made his grand entrance on may 2nd at 5:56 am at 37 weeks 1 day.

I had been nesting like crazy the week before and was trying to get so many projects done. I started losing my mucus plug the couple days before but didn't think that he was coming that early, even though he was so low and I felt like I could go at any day. Well anyways I started having contractions at 2:30 am and he was born at 5:56. 3.5 hours of labor!!! I still can't believe it. I started having contractions woke my husband up an hour later and started bossing him around. We had nothing ready- Car seat wasn't in the car, birth plan wasn't written, hospital bag wasn't packed. I was planning on doing it that day! Hopped in the tub at home. As it was filling up my contractions were only 3 minutes apart and starting to hurt. I called my mom to come watch our son at 4 am. called the midwife right after and she said since I couldn't talk through my contractions we should head in soon. I told my husband as I was in the tub at home that I felt like I could almost be pushing and we needed to get to the hospital asap. We got to the hospital at 5:20. They wheeled me into the room (the midwife wasn't even there yet). The nurse told me to put the robe on and pee in a cup. I sat on the toilet chucked the container on the ground and loudly said "nope, not happening". I struggle over to the bed. The nurses are looking at me all nervous and ask if I feel like I need to push. told them I thought so and the one nurse said she was going to check my cervix. she checked looks at me and says "ok you are complete, the baby is crowning. You can start pushing at anytime." My husband and I looked at each other in total shock. Then the midwife comes in and I start pushing. She tells me my water still hasn't broke and it's "really cool" if the baby is born in the amniotic sac and that she didn't have to break my water. I'm looking at her thinking "I don't give a rats A$$ if it's cool is it going to help if you break my water?" Well at 5:56 I gave one final push and Simon came out in the amniotic sac, our little bubble boy! I guess it's extremely rare. The midwife said 1 in ever 8-10,000. He was 7lbs 6oz and 20 in long. Good thing he didn't wait until 40 weeks he would have been huge!
We are doing great and enjoying being a family of 4 even though it is exhausting. It's so worth it. Happy Mothers day to you all!

Now THAT would be a cool pic! (Make sure you protect any online posts, if any) so no one makes a buck off of your miracle :)

I delivered a week ago 2 hours after dr ruptured membranes and started pit. Good job!
  • @nansee3 Once his head came out they peeled back the sac so he could take his first breath. But my husband got to see his little face in the "bubble". I was just waiting for the midwife to whip out her phone and start taking pictures haha. I'm fairly certain she hadn't delivered a baby "en caul" before.

  • Congrats! Great story... I'm actually terrified on a fast labor as a FTM... I'm hoping to labor at home for a while, and don't want to accidentally have a home birth!

He's adorable... enjoy this time! :)
  • Congratulations. Such a quick labor. Thank u for the story
  • @danibonello I know what you mean! I did not think I was cutting it that close with my timing! hopefully next time around they can at least check my blood pressure and we can actually check in! haha
