Re: James or Grant?

  • Love James! Grant is ok, but James gets my vote. Congratulations! :)

  • I much prefer James but I don't care for names that are derived from surnames so that's just my thing.

I like both but I think I'd prefer Grant as a middle name over a first name. I'd go with James as a first
  • I like both, but James is just such a fantastic name it is hard to beat.

  • I like James....but I would have to say that I would go for Grant because it is not as popular. But if popularity doesn't matter to you, then either works. They are both cool names!

  • James for sure. Grant is a great middle name for James if you want to use it!

It really depends how you feel about popularity. DS is Grant and we absolutely love his name. I've met maybe 3 ever but it's known enough that nobody ever misspells or mispronounces it. I love that it's masculine and good for a kid or adult (much like James). James is a strong contender if we ever have another boy (it's my FIL's MN) but I just can't get past it's popularity.

We have a Grant so I'm biased. Like pp said, it's a strong name and I've never met a Grant I didn't like (ours is awesome too). I really think James is a great name too but I was turned off by its popularity.
  • I like them both. Why not Grant James or James Grant?
