Crib color

i can't decide on a white or dark modern wood color for our crib and furniture. At first I thought wood, but I'm thinking in the future if we add more furniture / dressers, night stands etc it may be easier to match with white.
We have a small nursery now but don't plant to live here forever!
Thoughts?

We had this debate last week. I usually want dark wood, it's what I have in the rest of the house but we are going white for the nursery furniture. I think dark wood looks best with neutrals or earth tones, white is best with lots of color. I also figured white would match anything we do for future babies too.

We're doing grey! We had a hard time deciding light or dark wood, neither one of us likes white. But then I found a grey crib on wayfair and fell in love! Plus it goes with most color schemes.

I love the gray cribs. I've seen lots of them recently. I think they look modern but not too modern that they would go out of style. We are doing everything white and gray for baby.
  • My hubby originally wanted dark but after looking at cribs, he felt white made the bedding colors show up more. I originally wanted white anyway, although I love grey for a crib! I love color cribs too but they're a little bohemian for hubby.

We had decided white for girl and dark wood for a boy, a little manlier since we r buying dresser and convertible crib that will last a long time. We're having girl, so white it is!

This baby gets my husband's super nice (read: expensive) childhood furniture. It has matching bunk beds and a full size head board as options for later on. We really just need a cheap, but safe crib to get us through for 1.5-2 years.

If the furniture you pic is sticking with the child for the duration, I'd make sure you pic something classic. You didn't say if you're having a girl or boy. In my opinion, I think white furniture is a little more feminine. I don't think I'd ever do white for a boy. With that being said, I've seen some cool nautical boy nurseries with white furniture. We tend to usually go for dark furniture in our house.

  • Our crib is a mid century turquoise little number and I love it. The room is going to be a soft green grey, and the other furniture either natural wood or painted brightly (orange, yellow, etc).

  • My husband and I have been back and forth! We want to do a grey and white nursery with a pop of color depending on the gender.... We both wanted a dark cherry wood crib, however I'm thinking it may not look great with the grey and white?! But we hate white furniture lol ugh!!!
  • We're going dark wood as we plan on doing a neutral nursery with pops of color.
  • We are doing a modern espresso crib (Babyletto Hudson) with a white Hemnes IKEA dresser. I have seen lots of nurseries on Pinterest using this dresser. Plus I don't like the matchy matchy look so I wanted to mix it up a bit. The colour of our room will
be light Gray with a dark teal accent wall with some sort of stripe or zig zag design. (I have been looking forward to designing a nursery since before I was pregnant!)

We painted the nursery chocolate brown, so went with white furniture.  I love how it pops, and either gender bedding that we have match the brown walls.
  • We are doing a rustic wood. It's kind of grayish. We have a nautical theme for our boy.

I do want to use pained furniture for a pop of color- I think for the changing table since it will be used and not kept for the long haul.
  • I went with grey! My nursery theme is grey, white, and yellow (with pops of teal) in a general "you are my sunshine" theme :) I don't like white cribs OR dark wood cribs--and so many of them are so frilly and froo froo! I wanted one that was really plain, with straight lines. I found one from Graco that I really, really love.

I'm also getting a few dark pieces from my sister -- my nephew's nursery was all dark wood furniture, but it can be painted. So my mom is painting a glider and changing table/dresser gray, and reupholstering the glider too. :)

I will be doing a dark brown or a black crib for a boy and if it's a girl I'll be reusing my daughters (which is in a full size bed right now) and buy her a day bed.

We went with dark wood (espresso) cribs - same color as majority of furniture in our house. I feel like they can be made more masculine or feminine with bedding.

I heard if you use white it gives the illusion of more space.
  • Second pregnancy and I've always been into white for a girl and dark wood for a boy. My son has a dark wood convertible crib and next week I'll find out if it's white it dark wood again!
