Awful cramps

I had intermittent cramps from 4 weeks. Im now 5+4 and last night/this morning i had the worst cramps ever. It felt as thought my uterus was trying to expel. I say this as i previously had a copper coil which my uterus pushed into my cervix and this is what it felt like. Pain on a scale 20/10. Worse that pain i had with my mc end of jan. Just back from the hosp and had a healthy scan 5+4 and i saw a HB!!! Word of encouragement ladies...
Im still on edge... dunno if the worrying will stop completely but definately reassured.

Re: Awful cramps

  • I'm sure seeing your baby and heartbeat was reassuring. Thinking of you! Hopefully you don't have any more terrible cramping.

  • Thanks. Hope so too @andrea0418
  • This would happen to me when I had to poop. Drink more water.

  • If you saw a HB that is FANTASTIC!! You may be experiencing stretching pain. had it with my first pregnancy, and actually went to the hospital as well. The docs said it might just be my ligaments stretching.  I am not sure, but it sounds like everything is good with your little one. FX you get some relief! Good luck!

  • My doctor told me if you see the heartbeat the risk of mc drops to 3%. So if you saw the heartbeat that's a great sign.

I have 2 more weeks before my ultrasound. I'm going to be nervous until then for sure!

Congrats on seeing a heartbeat! That is so exciting and reassuring.

Are you possibly dehydrated? Cramping is normal, but I don't blame you for getting checked if you are in severe pain.
  • Seeing a heartbeat is great. Cramping is normal as long as there's no spotting or bleeding.

  • Very encouraging as I have also had random twinges and aches in my uterus. Last night I woke up multiple times and got up to go potty to relieve the pressure but it didn't help and made me nervous... Have my ultrasound on Wednesday and hoping for heartbeat! I'm 5w4d. Had a miscarriage last year and got pregnant from IVF so I feel like I'm extra sensitive to every little feeling! Just a few waves of queasiness and no major morning sickness and I oddly almost want it just to feel that it's all real! I know I will regret thinking this!

I had a similar thing last night; woken at midnight to severe cramping - so bad I nearly vomited. There has been no bleeding, but I am only 5w and I am also on the edge... Two Hcg tests and an ultrasound ordered for the next couple of days... I am terrified :(
They say cramping is normal- but how bad is the pain usually?
  • Thanks ladies for all your positive words.@kbeck008 hope it all goes well! @jt85 cramping was really really really bad. Even cocodamol from the hospital didnt ease the background ache. Its now all gone completely but honestly on a scale of 1 to 10 easily 20!

I was just about to say I was having some bad cramps and it turned out I was constipated. Congrats on seeing the heartbeat!
