Bed Rest Check-In 5/7/15

Hello and welcome!
This is a check-in to offer support and encouragement to each other while
facing the challenge of bed rest during pregnancy.

If you are new, please tell us your EDD; # and gender of
LOs; type of bed rest (modified / strict / hospital) and when it started in
your pregnancy; reason for bed rest; and any updates from recent appointments.

QOTW:  How are you
doing?  What is the nicest thing someone
has done for you while you have been on bedrest?

Doing pretty well, all things considered.  I am still working from home, and work is really keeping me busy right now.  Had an u/s at MFM yesterday and my little girl is weighing in at 2 lb, 8 oz and my little boy is 2 lb, 7 oz.  They are both very active - feels like I have an octopus in there!

QOTW:  I mentioned to my mom that I would like to plant some flowers in my garden but that I felt bad considering all the things DH has to do right now because of my restrictions.  So my mom bought some plants that I love, and is visiting on Mother's Day and planting them for me :-)

Good news! Benjamin Lee Smith was born 5/7/15 at 1:22pm.  He weighs 7lb. 14.1oz. and is 22 inches long.  He's absolutely perfect!  We should be going home at some point tomorrow.

My midwife and I decided that being induced would be the best option due to all of the issues I've experienced.  I went to the hospital Monday the 4th at 7:30pm and started round 1 of the induction process. I was 1cm at this point. I was given Cervidil which I had absolutely no progress with overnight.  We then tried cytotec for the morning and afternoon which helped slightly, but not enough so I was given pitocin overnight which helped slightly as well.  I was only dilated to 2 1/2 cm.  We started round 2 of the induction process which was Cervidil.  This managed to get me to 3-4cm by the evening.  We switched to pitocin, broke my water an hour after that and after 19 hours of labor Benjamin was here!

I had a CT done of my abdomen to check out if I have kidney stones.  In the afternoon I was informed that X-Rays were also ordered so I had to do that as well.  I imagine that means my urologist found something and needed confirmation.  Tomorrow I get to find out what needs to be done so I can get this stent out and be back to my old self!

Good news here!! Baby Juliet was born on 5/6 at 4pm via C-section. She was 5lb3oz and 17.5" long at 36 weeks. We had a minor issue with dehydration before my milk came in but it resolved with some formula supplement until my milk came in.

We were discharged today! I am beyond excited to go home for the first time in 48 days.

Just got put on modified bed rest yesterday. I'm due July 16th with a baby girl.

I had been having pain in my lower abdomen for about a week, I thought it was probably my muscles stretching but I decided to call the OB before the weekend. When I went in they found protein in my urine and I had been contracting. I'm on modified bed rest for now and my next appointment is Tuesday. I'm hoping they take me off BR at that appointment but I'm not sure how common that is. Anyone have experience being put on and off bed rest?

Hi @claudia3059 - I've been on modified bed rest since 20 weeks due to placenta previa / low lying placenta.  If I was pregnant with one, I think my doctors probably would have cleared me to increase activity.  However, I am pregnant with twins so they have continued with my restrictions.  No matter what happens just stay positive - it's just for a short period of time.  Even if you have to remain on bed rest you're in third trimester - the home stretch!
