I'm relatively new here and have been reading these boards fairly religiously for about the last two weeks. Haha! I am getting married in two weeks, so we aren't TTC yet, but plan to start shortly after, probably June. We have been together for 10 years and are excited to begin this journey. I rarely have a period, maybe once a year, and am nervous that this is going to make TTC a little harder to track, it will all be worth it though!
What I really wanted to say though is what an inspiration you all are! Most of you have gone through some pretty rough stuff and are still just as determined as ever and that gives me hope!
Also thank you for being so informative. You all have answered most of my questions better than any website on the internet has! Haha! I'm praying for us all and that we get our BFP! You'll be hearing more from me, I'm just trying to get a feel for stuff before I really jump in. Thanks again and sorry this post was soo long!
I know right! I haven't went to a specialist yet, but my ob/gyn said that she didn't see why I couldn't conceive and really didn't seem worried about it. She said that some girls just need a jump start and put me on BC. I took it for six months and it seemed to make it worse. I stopped taking it when I bled for 27 days strait! The longest I've gone is a year and a half without one.... I want to trust my doctor... but it just doesn't add up. Now that we will be TTC soon I'm going to go to a different OB/GYN for another opinion and then will hopefully soon get into a specialist. Do you think its necessary to try to see one so soon even if we haven't really tried yet?
Well here's the deal (someone correct me if I'm wrong), your period is the shedding of your uterine lining. When an egg doesn't implant in the uterus, it sheds the lining and prepares for the next egg. Therefore, you ovulate then your period comes. I don't see how you could be ovulating if you don't have a period. I'm side eyeing your doctor because that doesn't make sense to me. What has been your average cycle length recently? I know you said you've gone the longest a year and a half, but are they all like that?
I agree 100%! I know that's what a period is. I was just following docs orders, trust me I'm currently searching for a new one! My periods are always different some two months appart and lasting for 4-5 days but most are at least 6 months apart and last up to 8. I stopped taking BC Nov. of 2013 after I bled for almost a full month. I had one in January of 14, then nothing until last July, and again nothing until last month. Based on a 28 day cycle, which I am obviously not, I should be starting this weekend so we shall see. My sister has kind of the same issue, just not as bad, and she concieved last month, but quickly had a MC....
Two months apart isn't that unheard of. It's the longer ones that have me worried for you. I'm glad you are looking into it though. I wish I had more advice! Temping is a great tool that will help you determine ovulation and when to expect your period. Also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni W.
