trouble sleeping

I have terrible trouble sleeping. My doctor told me Benadryl would help and I've been taking that at night to fall asleep and it works wonders. I was wondering if any other mommas take anything for sleeping? I feel really bad taking meds while pregnant but If I don't get sleep I'm exhausted and super cranky all day!

I don't want to take anything to help me sleep because in my experience this will continue the whole pregnancy and that would add up to a lot of Benadryl after all those months. To me, lack of sleep is just part of pregnancy and also help to get ready to be up with the baby several times in the night.a bath with lavender and a warm glass of milk usually relaxes me enough but I still am getting up two to three times in the night.

Ive always had sleeping issues, i used to take prescription strength sleeping pills, but stopped when we decided we were going to try to concieve. Im not a fan of meds during pregnancy.

What might help me sleep now is getting a hotel. Husbands breathing machine makes way too much noise and it takes me half an hour to get him to wake up enough to adjust the mask.. Repeat every hour >.>

I had trouble sleeping as well and this last week I only had 1 bad night, what's helped me is to stay active during the day. Have things to do cook clean, not sit on the couch watching TV. Pack my lunch and my Son's the night before and take a warm shower before bed after all of that is done and throw in my work day in there as well. I'm beat! Before, I would get home from work exhausted as can be and would rest then when it was time for bed it was almost impossible to stay asleep all night or let alone fall asleep! Try drinking chamomile tea and taking a warm shower or bath...if you MUST have the benadryl maybe half a dose but dont make it into a habit. I agree with a PP I don't fight it, although it is very frustrating I just work with it and make myself dead tired for bedtime!
