I know there is a boy names thread, but we have a boy name picked out. We are seriously lacking in GIRL names though! We can't agree on anything! I'm feeling major girl vibes so I want to start preparing. I LOVE Giselle but by hubby does not. My daughter's name is Scarlett Alexis. We like the nickname Charlee, but can't go with Charlotte.. (Scarlett, Charlotte) HELP!

Re: Girl Names...help!

  • I love Charlie or Charleston for a girl. If he didn't insist this baby have a K name I would have went with something like that for a girl. Just give her a super fem middle name to balance it out.
  • My MIL worked for a Charlene that went by Charlie

  • Lol yes at one point he said why don't we just NAME her Charlee? Does that sound to masculine or does it work these days? Hmm
  • Hazel, Maybel, Charlee (Char Char for nickname),
  • For girls we are considering Adaline, Adalynne, Avery, Ava, and Alexia. MN will likely be Grace maybe Quinne. (Idk why they are all A names, we aren't doing it on purpose haha)

I think charlee is adorable for a girl. Like I said just fem it up a bit on the middle name. We are going with Kinley Olivia. I don't feel like kinley is super girly so we sweetened it with the middle name.
  • All very pretty! We do really like Adalyn as well, but now I am thinking maybe Charlee Alexis... (share a middle name with her sister since their last names will be different)
  • I know a little girl named Charlie! Some people assume it's for Charlotte, but she's actually just named after her grandfather. It's cute, and she's got a really feminine middle name, so it's not really an issue of people looking at her name and thinking she's a boy.
  • I think with a daughter already named Scarlett, Charlie is a bit of a stretch. I also really don't care for masculine given names on girls. But given that your first daughter has a very feminine name, it wouldn't be fair to number 2 to go super masculine.

    Suggestions in no particular order

    Adaline
    Gianna
    Melody
    Leonie
    Valerie
    Marcella
    Cassandra
    Briar
    Adelaide
    Audrey
    Hazel
    Penelope
    Evangeline
    Lucy
    Eleanor
    Olivia
    Beatrice
    Josephine
    Victoria
    Corinne
    Claire
    Charis
    Rosalind

Names that Charlie could easily be pulled from as a nickname

    Charlotte
    Charlene

Names that are a bit of a stretch

    Carla
    Charmian
    Charity
    Chandra
    Cara
    Charna
    Cheryl

I think it is totally acceptable for a girl now a days. Another name I have heard lately for girls is Ryan or Ryanne. I love Rayna for a girl:)

  • @ash413 wow grace for a middle name has become extremely popular
  • I have a niece named Charlie and have always thought its the cutest name ever!!! I also LOVE the name Lucy...thats my top girl name.
  • I like the name Charlie for a girl. We had some names picked out already. Here are some we are thinking about
    Katherine Hope
Delia Grace ( still debating the middle name)

    We already have
    Aidan Nathaniel
    Lily Ann
  • I know a Charli. She's a cutie pie. Don't forget the about Charlize. :)

I know a girl named Charli, I think it's unique, it's not masculine, but it's not super girly. It's perfect! I say go for it!
  • Zoé
    Victoire
    Philippa

  • I love a name that could go either boy or girl, that is what we are going to do if we have a girl. I am also a little bias because I am one of those girls, Cori, and have three good friends that way also, Kyle, Drew, and, Andi. We all do just fine
  • My little girls name is Piper;) I thought that was the cutest name I had heard ;)
  • Doesn't anyone else think of the cute little girl on the now syndicated show "good luck, Charlie?" She was portrayed as anything but masculine. I think Charlee is fine!
  • Kalise Alexis would be nice :)
  • I love the name Charleston, Charlie for short!

My favorite name is Amelia but my husband hates it. We do both agree on Kennedy and thats our front runner at present.
  • I see your predicament. Scarlett and Charlie have some sounds in common but I think work together. However, I agree that Charlie is more of a nickname (as pp said - fast forward to resumes). My personal opinion is that you might need to try a new name altogether. Charlotte nn Charlie would be adorable if you didn't already have a Scarlett. Just my opinion. Scarlett and Olivia would be cute. So many other good ones too.
  • I love the names, Emerson, Sloane, Ana, Emilia, Harper, Elle, Kennedy, Sadie, Emilee, Bailey, Brynn or Brinley, Blake, Brielle, Meadow, Charlotte, Sienna

  • Isla or Isabelle (Izzy)!
  • I love McKenna but my husband doesn't :(
  • Evageline is on our list. How would you pronounce it? E-van-gel-een or E-van-gel-ein (like wine)? DH and I can't agree.

As far as Charlie goes, a friend of a friend is named Charlyee (not sure if it's a nn). I don't personally like the name but I do like Charlize with nn Charlee. IMO Charleston is awful for a girl.
  • We've had names picked out for the last 5 years...
Lux Ella is my all time favorite.
I've also started to look at my great ancestors and I've seen some unique names.
    Exoria
    Elisabet
    Apolline
Herminie (no joke it was my second great grand uncles wife)

My name is Cherish so I only feel like my daughters name should be unique too.

    E-van-ge-leen (so, not like wine)
  • All the named I could think of that would use Charlie as a nickname have already been listed. So, some of my favorites right now are Camille, freya, hazel (love this but way too popular for me now), zoe and chloe.

Evangel-een pronounciation is the only one I've heard. Pretty! :)

If we have a daughter we're naming her Basil like the plant which is sometimes pronounced "Bazz-ill" as a boy's name. We don't really care about the confusion since we both grew up having unisex names.
  • I know a girl who named her daughter Charlie and her middle name is Lynn and i think it's adorable. We named our 1st DD Easton Madilynn and our 2nd DD is Quinn Marie. I like different names especially ones that are not very common but are also not made up. I never asked for opinions on names that me and my husband like because I didn't care what others thought. It was our decision and I didn't want to end up hating a name I loved just because someone else didn't like it.
  • Hi @cherthompson nice to meet you.

Question Have you ever thought of adding an "e" on Lux?

I live in Europe And when i Think of this , I thing of luxe, which means luxurious when translated from French to English .

The "e" could also make it a bit lore feminine
    Just an idea :)

    All the best!
  • Could you make the babies middle name Charlotte and then have it going by Charlie?
  • If this baby is a girl my huabd and I are naming her Kailani Belle. First name is pronounced Ky-la-ni not be be confused with Kaylani. I just love the nickname Kai or Lani
  • If ours is a girl we will name her, Clara Joy
