Trying to Get Pregnant

confused about ovulation date

According to Fertility Friend, I recently ovulated...I wasn't completely sure when I looked at it on my handwritten chart because the thermal shift was pretty minor (basically the bare minimum to indicate ovulation) and then I got a lower temp the next day. But when I plugged everything in to FF, it gave me crosshairs.

However, I am so confused as to which CD ovulation actually occured on. Here is my chart: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/249d62

On CD 22 I had my last day of fertile-quality cm, but FF is giving me cycle days 22-25 as my fertile days even though I had no cm those days. I thought (according to TCOYF) that your wettest day was supposed to immediately precede ovulation and that you dried up right afterwards. But according to this chart, it is marking CD 25 as O day, right?!

Anyway, any insight would be greatly appreciated. This has been my first cycle post-BCP so needless to say it's been pretty confusing. TIA!

Re: confused about ovulation date

  • Is it maybe because you didn't enter any CM info for those days?

  • No, those little slashes indicate dry days (at least I think so...)
  • Hmm, then I'm out of ideas, sorry!

  • it's not a very defined thermal shift.. are you using a basal themometer?  does it measure to the hundreths .00?  that would probably help.
  • Nope, I'm using a regular digi thermometer :( It measures up to 1/10 of a degree.
  • I would give it a couple days FF may adjust your O date. Being this is your first month charting/off BCP your body will do all kinds of stuff that doesn't make sense!

And personally CM is unpredictable, I have very little and maybe get EWCM once every couple months and last time was after FF said I O'd. Sure textbook says you will be dry after O but getting the hormones out of your system can affect a lot.

invest in a basal.  they're around $10 and you can find them anywhere (drugstores, walmart, target)...  you'll see more change with it.

  • I don't think you've O'd yet - except maybe if your temps go up, then MAYBE yesterday.

    1. Fertile CM can come and go.   Hell, on my June cycle I had 4 different instances of it before I actually O'd.

    2.  you don't have to have fertile CM to O.

  • damn FF and it's misleading cross hairs :( i haven't drawn any lines in my handwritten chart because I'm just not convinced yet. i guess the only solution is see what temps the next few days bring.

and i'm going to look into the basal thermometer, thanks!
