SIL and BIL vent

I know it's a bit early to pull out the hormonal vents BUT...

My SIL and BIL are great supports for us and are always there when we need them. That said, I have this thing where I really can't handle my nieces and nephew when I'm pg. SIL and BIL have a very different parenting style and the kids have what I feel is a pretty unhealthy attachment and co-dependency with SIL.

Kids are here for the night tonight and my oldest niece (8 yo) is a sobbing mess. SIL is all like "just let her text me whenever she wants," which of course just makes the kid worse. Other times I can muster some empathy and try to drag her out of the weepiness but now Im just downright irritated. And tired. And weepy myself.

I really do love these kids but UGH. Oh! And here in a matter of months (or weeks) when they sell their house, they're moving in with us until they close on a new one. Sounded like a fine idea until the strip turned color!

  • I feel like people tell me this all the time. My kid is too attached to me blah blah blah. It's just a different style of parenting. I wouldn't have it any other way.. I'm sorry they are on your nerves!

Yep I have two. I get that parenting styles really are just different but that doesn't stop it from getting on my nerves lol

Would it change the validity of my post if I didn't?

Well it would make a difference of understanding where she's coming from. But clearly you just have different parenting styles and there's nothing wrong with that. It's understandable that it can be frustrating.
