Little Penis on 9wk US..??

Went in for my dating US a few weeks ago, the Doctor and US tech both pointed to a little "nub" and said.. looks like there is something there, could be a boy!

I find it CRAZY to believe.. anyone else have this experience?

This early on the genitalia are just now starting to distinguish. Could be a penis...could be an engorged clitoris. Too early to tell :) fun to guess though!!

We had the same thing told to us at 9w3d! The NP and 2 techs were in the room ALL saying it looked like a boy. There was a definite very large thing in between the legs. They were laughing bc they said it's "too early to tell but that's why it was so funny" It was quite obvious. We will see! Part of me wonders if it was the cord? I'd think they'd know the difference though....

I was told at that gestational age BOTH male and female have a nub.

I've read that their genitals are fully developed at 14 weeks! But I'm sure it's all different for everyone! Would be cool to find out later if baby is a boy!

Yes week 14 is when they are usually developed by ! Sometimes ultrasound don't pick them up that early though ! Here we don't find out till 18-20 weeks ! I'm going at 18 weeks to find out (: ! May 16th !!!

My SIL had a similar experience at 10 weeks. The nurse said they can't say anything but off the record, that's a penis sticking out! He was spread eagle and it dominated the screen. Sure enough, they had a boy. It's all about the angle your wee one wants to show themselves off at.

Had my 12 week scan yesterday and the tech pretty quickly said the same thing! I am not sure when it all differentiates but she gave me a picture that make it look pretty definitive :) Congrats!!

I would say way too early to tell. I kind of think it's irresponsible to techs to say anything that early. A friend of mine was told she was having a girl at 13 weeks ("no guarantees, but I've been doing this a long time and that looks like a girl!" Said the tech). Sure enough, at her actual anatomy scan, all BOY. Fun to guess, but I wouldn't put any weight on it. Still 50/50 at this point.

Our techs won't tell us even if they are 100% sure... We have to go to UCbaby and pay $$ to find out what we are having ! The rest of our ultrasounds and stuff are free except gender reveal !

Honestly, they are identical at that point.  Any doctor should know that.  I'd be looking for a new OB right about now, but that's just me.

Probably more likely the umbilical cord.
