Re: Weekly checkin: 3/21/15

  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
38 weeks (tomorrow), due 4/5/15, normal newborn baby size

    2. Age at delivery?
    35

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
DS is 21 months, two labrador retrievers

    4. How are you feeling?
I feel enormous and physically unable to do much of anything. My cold is getting better and my energy is coming back, but whenever I try to do anything I start getting BH or trouble breathing or back pain or dizzy and I realize it was a terrible idea.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
38 week appointment on Monday and we'll probably talk about delivery options (induction, etc). On the one hand, I want to hold out until April 1 when DH's new paternity leave benefits take effect. On the other hand, if this baby isn't going to wait until April 1, I just want to be done now.

QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
Everything. Seriously though, I miss being able to do my workouts and follow a paleo / primal diet. I've been too sick with this pregnancy for either. I also miss being able to carry my toddler, pick him up and hug him, have him sit in my lap, etc.

  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
26 weeks  June 24 but I always go over!  I think lettuce was mentioned this week but califlower was last week and I always think of a head of cauliflower being bigger than a head of lettuce...so go figure
    2. Age at delivery?
    42
    3. Any other children or fur babies?
7 other children yes and  several pets too
    4. How are you feeling?
Very good.  Keeping the reflux in check with apple cider vinegar.
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?

QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
Really there isn't anything I can think of that I can't do pregnant that I do non pregnant!  I still am very active...today my husband had me dig a trench with a shovel and load the dirt into a wheelbarrow and dump it.  I guess not many pregnant women would do that.  After several hours of that I followed it with a couple hours of lawn raking.  Prior to that I spend all early morning starting my cooking for about 20 guests tomorrow.  I made a cinnamon roll cheesecake, a chocolate peanut butter pie cake, and a cherry pie all from scratch.  Tomorrow I will do all the main course stuff.  I carry the 3 year old and 1 1/2 year old at the same time one on each hip.  I don't ever normally drink or eat unpasturized stuff.  I can't do my super intense work outs pregnant but still walk so fast and uphill on a treadmill that its actually nearly jogging...and I don't miss my super intense workouts as I hate working out anyways!

  • @mattandlora ... I hope you go exactly on April 1 so you get the benefits without having to wait much longer.  I know from your other posts that it's getting tough on you.  Hang in there and know we're thinking of you!

@cneiding ... you are a rock star!  I love it!

    1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
24 weeks today!  Woo hoo!  Due July 11.  Baby is a little canteloupe.
    2. Age at delivery?
    43 years young
    3. Any other children or fur babies?
Kitties Maximus (2 years old), Bailey (6 years old) and Sable (12 years old)
    4. How are you feeling?
Pretty good.  Every so often I have a day with some aches and pains, mostly in my butt (probably siatica?).  I get winded more quickly than I used to and feel a little off balance sometimes.  Still, I feel pretty lucky that I'm not really having any issues.
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Went to the doc on Monday.  First time I actually met a doc from the practice.  (Been seeing the NPs.)  Really liked her.  Am seeing another doc next month.  There are five docs in all and whoever is on call the day I deliver will be my doc.  I probably should be a little freaked out about the possibility of someone I have never met before delivering our baby, but I'm not really.  RAVE: Passed my one-hour glucose test!  Woot!  RAVE:  My parents will be in town from Florida all next week!  Am excited to see them.
QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
I had planned to start running again, but found out we were expecting and decided to wait on it.  Fiance and I still do a lot of walking most nights, which I enjoy.  I am slower than before, but I still get moving.  I have to admit that I do miss having a glass of wine with dinner every now and then.  Oh, and using my topical eczema medication.  My hands are really affected right now and it's driving my crazy!  I did break down and use it twice this week.  Doc never said not to use it, but I researched it online and it came up as a level 3 med.  Just those two applications have made a world of difference in my life, lol.

@jerseygirl227 I am in the same situation where I get whoever is working that shift to deliver my baby. I actually appreciate that they don't work to exhaustion, and it was no big deal to me when I had DD. It was my doula and hubby that were in the room with me every minute coaching and supporting me.

@mattandlora I know you are so uncomfortable and I sure hope you go into labor soon. You are full term.

@cneiding I am impressed and envious of your very able pregnant body! Go you!

    1. May 17, 32 weeks, baby is the size of a squash

    2. 38

    3. A toddler and a dog

    4. I'm feeling pretty down due to challenges and I'm trying to balance my thinking and focus on the many positive things happening in my life. Namely, my healthy daughter and healthy baby boy, the roof over my head, loving family, etc.

    5. Next prenatal appt is in a week. Spent a few hours in L&D Friday night due to severe back pain, contractions 3 mins apart detected but just an irritable uterus and not labor. RANT: I'm on bed rest due to the back pain (likely related to scoliosis), DH is being a jerk about it and not stepping up to help around the house and our daughter, and it all really has me feeling depressed and out of control of my life. RAVE: baby is totally healthy and unaffected by my ailments, online grocery ordering and delivery is awesome, meeting with a housecleaner this week, my mom will be flying out to help. Yay!

Oops almost forgot QOTW: Well, given my new bed rest status, I could write a novel about what I miss that I can't do now. But I'll keep it short and say drink WINE! I could really use a glass right now! Lol

  • I would like to echo everyone's thoughts on the wine. I've gone from pregnant to nursing to pregnant without a break. I think the last time i could drink without worry was .... August 2012? That sounds about right. And guess what I craved the most with my pregnancies? Fruity cocktails. You know. the kinds with umbrellas that you drink on vacation. I'd kill for one of those right now. And when the pregnancy is over, the craving will be gone.

  • Almost 30 weeks. Acorn squash I think.

    37.

2yr old DD. 6 yr old DS. Black Labrador.

I'm still super tired all the time. Starting to get uncomfortable. Sciatica flaring up too. Other than that doing ok. Getting a little anxious that the house isn't really ready yet.

Next appt is Wednesday. Normal OB appt. hoping my glucose test came back ok.

Bend over! See my toes. Lol. I'm eager to start working out again and have my back pain calm down. It gets really bad during pregnancy but not pregnant it only flares every once in a while.

    June 1, 30 weeks tomorrow
    2. Age at delivery?
    Will be 38 in July
    3. Any other children or fur babies?
    Nope
    4. How are you feeling?
    Huge, but otherwise good
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Going in for the GTT tomorrow. Well, hopefully. I showed up to do it last week and waited 1/2 hour only to find the lab tech wouldn't even be in for another 15 minutes.Uh, thanks for letting me know. Anyway, trying not to be nervous, I know the odds are in my favor, but this vegetarian is going to struggle if I'm restricted to meat and cheese for the next 10 weeks. :(
Rave - I went camping this weekend - was so nice to get all that fresh air and I slept great! Had been two months and I was really missing it.
QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
While excited to go camping, the area were in made me really miss all the fun activities that we used to do there... rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking. Guess I'm still kinda working through the mourning process of losing that phase of my life, even though I'm excited for all the new adventures the future holds.

  • @mindaa ... I didn't know you are a vegetarian.  So am I!  Been so for 24 years.  The NP tried to get me to start eating fish once I learned I was pregnant, but I couldn't.  It's been a challenge to get all my protein, but I think I am doing okay.  Good luck with the GTT!!!

I think all us wine ladies should have a glass togerther one night when we graduate into the Parenting after 35 board, lol.  You know, after breastfeeding and recovery and when we actually have time .... so, like in two years or so, lol.  :)

In other news I have a lump in my nipple. I was on antibiotics which improved it, but it's still there and still tender. Have been referred onto a specialist. Am quietly terrified it could be cancer.

  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
Drs office says 28 weeks, the bump for some reason is always 4 days behind, so they say 27+3. EDD June 18th. Another site has a much more fun way to estimate size of baby - at 1.5 - 2.5lbs, about the size of a small chihuahua. Yo quiero Taco Bell

    2. Age at delivery?
    37

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
2 kitties, both of them currently hogging the bed

    4. How are you feeling?
    Tired but generally well

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Passed my 3 hour GTT last week. Got put on the every 2-3 week schedule as opposed to the every 4 week schedule. Otherwise next appt on 4/3

QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
    Craft beer.
And I'd really like to hit up an amusement park and take some roller coasters and crappy food, but alas, no roller coasters for me. I could go for just the food, but then I would be sad looking at the roller coasters.

  • @KateLouise That's stressful, but hopefully the fact it responded to antibiotics is a good sign. Will cross my fingers that you get some good news soon.

    1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
32w3days, big enough to be kicking me in the liver with vicious force.

    2. Age at delivery?
    36

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
    Nope

    4. How are you feeling?
Ok. A bit tired, but that's my fault for staying up past 11 and getting up before 6:30.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
I have to get the TDap vaccine and schedule an ultrasound to check growth. I'm measuring 34.5 cm, so borderline large for dates.

QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
I can still do most things but I know I will miss my quiet mornings when the little one arrives. Hopefully he'll like to sleep in like his dad so I can still have a little time to myself. :)  I also miss my normal-looking body. Every time I look in the mirror, I'm shocked by how much I've grown!
  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?

    8w2d Nov 1.  Raspberry

    2. Age at delivery?

    36

    3. Any other children or fur babies?

2 teens 1 preteen and one 4 month old puppy

    4. How are you feeling?

    Tired.  Sore. Moody

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?

I have my first appointment with the MFM clinic on Thursday. I will also be getting an u/s.
Rants: All of these appointments are getting exhausting.  But i might as well get used to it.  I will be going to a lot over the next 8 months.

QOTW: What is one thing you miss that you can't do now that you're expecting?
Going out with SO after work on Friday and have a couple of good strong drinks. This will be a permenant end to that. :)

  • @marijaa333 @jerseygirl227 @mindaa

Thanks ladies. I met with the specialist today, and now I have an appointment for an ultrasound on Monday, then I'll see her the following week to follow up on that.

Unfortunately lump is right in the nipple which is really awkward for them to scan, and get a good look at, so the scan may be inconclusive.

However she seemed to think it was quite probably a blockage of a duct or swelling/thickening of the duct related to breastfeeding. Which was my gut feeling too, but because she can feel a lump she wants to rule out cancer (which is obviously very good doctoring, and really you'd have to be crazy to have a lump in your breast and not think of cancer, so I'm glad to have her rule it out....fingers crossed it is indeed ruled out!)
