Hey ladies, So my son is now 6 weeks old and we are still breastfeeding. For the first 4 weeks I had to use a breast shield due to him being in the NICU and having nipple confusion. We were then able to transition to feeding without the shield but he wasn't latching well due to lip and tongue ties. I had those clipped 2 days ago but now my areolas hurt where his bottom gums/lip latches. His latch is deep and I'm using lanolin so that's not the issue (we've seen an LC a few times). Has anyone else had pain where his lower lip rubs? I'm hoping I just have to get used to his new latching position but wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience. Sarah
My son is 4 weeks and I have the same thing. My LC said to use coconut oil instead of lanolin since lanolin was doing nothing for me. I was skeptical, but it is helping a little, though it is still tender.
