Cribs

Does anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced cribs? My husband and I went looking at a few baby stores yesterday and holy cow... 600+ for a crib?!?!

Re: Cribs

  • IKEA has them $200 and less. That is what we have for DS 1 and love it! It converts to a toddler bed so we are still using it.

We got DS2 set at Burlington Coat Factory and I love it. We got the convertible crib with all the pieces to convert it later (which cost extra), a tall dresser, a shorter dresser that has doubled as a changing table and a book case...entire set was $1,200 and the quality is great I think.
  • We got ours off Craigslist! Love it! For $100.
  • DH and I found a Four in one crib with a dresser and changing table, made for $389, usually priced at $2,220!! And ths shipping is free!!! Gotta go amazon prime
  • I'm thinking about getting an Ikea one too. We were gifted a pretty nice convertible crib for DS1, and he didn't even use it till he was 18 months :'( Luckily, DS2 is in it now. I'm actually not crazy about converting it to a toddler or full bed, so we will probably buy new beds eventually. But I'm thinking we will use a PNP or RNP for this one (or more likely bedshare) and then transfer to an Ikea crib. I can't justify spending hundreds on a convertible crib to just use it for a year or two max!
  • Walmart.com has lots of great options. I found one for $115
  • Where are you looking? I saw lots in the $200-$300 range on buybuybaby.com and target.com

I got ours at Target. It was under $200. I don't think ours converts though. If a $600 crib converts to a toddler and then twin I say it might be worth it to you.

  • IKEA! Mr best friend is obsessed with hers!

  • You should also check out Amazon - they have a wide variety. Convertible cribs are going to set you back more. We bought a convertible with DS#1 and I regret it. We never converted it - he went right to a twin bed from the crib. Eventually they are going to go to a twin  (or larger) so I didn't see the point in transitioning with a toddler bed (unless there is a space issue).

  • I like the ikea ones because they are not bulky (no "sleigh bed" rails that take up an extra foot of space)

We actually have a delta mini crib - that my toddler who is only 10% for height used until a few months shy of 3. It uses the same size sheets as a pack & play.
  • Surprisingly Kohls sells cribs. That's where we will be getting ours from. And they are on sale. They only sell them online so we're checking them out at babies r us first before ordering.
  • Honestly Walmart.com has super cheap cribs 200 300 for a good crib
Give it a look they pretty much carry the same as babiesrus
  • I'm interested in getting a crib with attached changer this time around. We thought we were done after the last baby, and got rid of the crib & changing table. I found one on Walmart.com for around $330.
  • I got mine at target and it is a convertible. I believe it was a little over $300...but consignment shops, craigslist etc would have cheap used options as well :)
  • I'm leery of purchasing second hand because of the risk that that model may have had a safety recall that was never acted upon or if the previous owner made any sort of adjustment that would impact the safety. I've been advised by my FIL who is a pediatrician to never buy cribs or car seats second hand.
  • We got the DaVinci Jenny Lind crib for DS and it was around $200. I think ours was purchased from Amazon. It's been a good crib and it has a classic look.
  • @LouLouLove ours too is the DaVinci collection except we bought ours at Target for around $300. The one we have does convert to toddler then a full size bed if we get the extended rails. I know some cribs that are priced higher does come with a mattress and some don't. Ours didn't so we had to buy separately. We waited until target has their usual clearance before we purchased and of course we waited til after the baby shower and combined the gift cards to help with the cost.
  • IKEA! They are highly rated and inexpensive. The plain Gulliver is $100. We got the Hensvik to look a little fancier and it was 130 I think. We love it and it will transition to a toddler bed when we're ready. They have well-priced crib mattresses and lots of cute kids stuff for nice and cheap.

  • We got our crib from babies r us with changing table. It can be used as a toddler bed a daubed and eventually a full bed.The baby actually stayed in his fisher price rocker til he started pulling up. This time I'm going for the halo bassinet for the first couple of months then hopefully my baby boy will be ready for this big boy bed.
  • Target! I'm looking at them there. They convert all the way to regular beds and most expensive I've seen is around $300.
  • Yeah, we got ds 1's crib from walmart.  Can't remember now, thinking in the $300 range and I'm glad we didn't spend any more than that because between the 2 boys they have barely logged any time in it.  lol For the first year neither one of them EVER slept in it.

  • Used (and still use!) a Gulliver IKEA crib for my first child. It's fantastic. Doesn't take up much space, simple clean lines, sturdy, and affordable.

  • Oops sorry for the above post. I have no idea where that even came from lol!
  • The crib I want is at Target (online only) and had an attached changing table. It converts to a toddler bed, day bed, and a full size bed. It is $259
  • Target has nice ones
