Cholestasis

Hi ladies! This is the first time I've posted here so I'm not sure if anyone has said they have had this problem before. I am 34 weeks and this is my 2nd pregnacy. I was dignosed with cholestasis at 38 weeks with my son and was induced right away and I was dignosed with it @ 28 weeks this time around. I have seen a specialist and him and my doctor agreed it's the best decision to induce at 37 weeks due to the increased risked of having a still born if I carry her any longer. My question is there anyone else in this fourm who has been dignosed with cholestasis or ICP?

  • The search function would be useful to find out if it's been discussed before.

On another note im not familiar with cholestasis but I wish you all the best and hope things are and go smoothly the next few weeks.

  • ((Hugs)) No personal experience but I have a good friend who had it with all 3 of her children. All 3 were induced at 37wks with no complications.

  • I have been diagnosed with cholestasis as well. My doctor is planning to induce me at 37 weeks if not before. I have weekly monitoring at the high risk unit (ultrasounds, and various other tests to ensure baby is doing well) and each week they'll let me know if I can go another week or if anything changes to indicate increased risk they'll induce me earlier. The key was to get to 34 weeks and I had the booster shots (in the hips.. ouch!) to give her the best chance at having her lungs developed in case she came before 34 weeks. I'm now at 35 weeks and have my next high risk unit appt in the morning so we'll see how the appt goes.
  • Not something I have heard of but sending out positive vibes to all the momma's dealing with this.
