Lumbar pain - help please!

(Sorry for my english, I'm writing from Czech Republic) This morning I was lifting something (wasn't heavy) and suddenly an incredible horrible pain when throughout the middle of my back to my lower back, I couldn't move or walk, I had to call my husband, my husband didn't know what to do, we call our doctor, she told us to go to the neurologist, we went there, apparently i have Lumbar Pain, but they can't do anything because Im in the 8 month of pregnancy, the doctor just gave me painkillers and some cream. Now I'm in bed and can't move, because every time I try the pain is excruciating. Can anyone relate to this and if yes, do you have any advice?

  • I'm not a doctor and I don't know if this will help but maybe try seeing a chiropractor. I know a lot of pregnant women swear by them. I have been seeing one and he has done wonders for my hips and back. Also, prenatal massages are wonderful. Hope you find some relief!

  • I agree, go see a chiropractor.  They really helped me.

  • Keep those feet elevated, or lie on your side with pillows between your knees. You need time to heal.

Take it easy once you're out of bed.
  • It could also be sciatica your sciatic nerve is in your lower back chiropractor would help

Yes it is horrible! I understand the pain you're in and it is absolutely excruciating!
Around six months pregnant I hurt my back after lifting my dog. For three days I was in terrible pain and could not stand as I collapsed under my own weight.
The problem has resolved after I visited a physio and had some deep tissue massage, routine exercises, a belly brace for support and a few days bed rest. My physio was recommended by my ob/gyn so I knew they specialised in working with pregnant women. I was told that the relaxin hormone softens our muscles when pregnant and that we are more susceptible to pulls and tears of the muscle tissue during this time.
I suggest seeing a physio and I wish you luck with your recovery. No more lifting or twisting! :)

  • It should get a little better in the next couple days as you rest. Just give your self some time to relax and recover. If it's not any better maybe your neurologist could prescribe some physical therapy? I had to do this a couple months ago and the gentle stretching and strengthening exercises really helped, and taught me some techniques to try at home when the pain gets bad.

Hope you get some relief soon.

I don't have any advice but wanted to say your English is better than a lot of the people on here whose first language is English... plus you know the difference between advice and advise which seems to be getting more and more rare around here.

I was thinking the same thing! The "English" used lately is so hard to read. I think it has a lot to do with effort. OP you did great!

I hope that some of the advice PP's provided helps and that you find relief.
  • Thank you guys, you are all very kind, I will try to find a chiropractor, my husband also suggested me to use a Pilates Ball and some kinesthetic bandage. Hopefully my back would start felling normal again (fingers crossed)
  • I don't have any advice for you, but I hope you feel better!
  • Thank you, i feel much better now.
