Re: Hospital bag for ftm

  • Someone posted this link. It has some interesting ideas.

The things I didn't have last time that I regretted were little mittens or socks for my LOs hands. She had scratched her face up pretty well by the time we got home. The other one was a shirt/tank/gown that was easy access for nursing. I was undecided about nursing when I had her then wanted to and all I had were t shirts in my bag so they were kind of a pain.

  • Check the search button- lots of posts on this-..... But don't forget Chapstick and a phone charger.
  • Chapstick! My lips were sooooo dry
  • @Ndm410‌ that link is great! I thought my bag was ready to go but theres so many good ideas!
  • Pinterest!! :)  One thing that is strange I admit but was great was adult diapers!  Lifesaver!!
  • Set of clothes for you and baby, toiletries, phone charger, camera if you are into that, I take my own pillow, and a robe so I'm not flashing my butt at my visitors if I need to use the bathroom, and nursing bra/shield/cream/cover.  Some change/snacks for DH.

That's it for me.  (I did pack chapstick)

  • Babybook so you can get footprints!
  • Nail clippers for baby! They are usually born with really long nails and the hospital only has scissors. Also I bought one of those all inclusive travel toiletry sets at Walmart. Comes in a handy zipper bag and has toothbrush paste deodorant shampoo and conditioner as well as lotion and hair spray. Chapstick is definitely a must and warm socks. Phone charger (mine died while I was in labor it was awful) and a book or tablet to occupy you later.
  • Oh. And SNACKS. You will be starving and they don't feed you near enough
  • Also mouthwash or some mints maybe??? After not being allowed to eat or drink anything (other than suck on ice chips) for like 24 hours my breathe was awful!! I didn't really care about it offending anyone else but it really bothered me.
  • Here's a link to a list that was made by my J14 BMB. The original post is by a mom of 4, so she has lots of experience! All the other Mom's added their ideas too, so it's pretty comprehensive. Obviously some things depend on where you live and what your hospital offers, but it definitely helps!

I wore the hospital gown during my entire stay but put my robe on when guests visited. I went through several gowns and sets of sheets due to bleeding and am glad I didn't ruin any of my stuff. Same goes with towels and underwear. While the hospital towels were small I am glad I didn't have to deal with bringing home bloody gross towels and underwear. The hospital mesh panties are amazing during recovery! Seriously.. Ask for extras when you are discharged.
