Re: Extremely hungry but no appetite..

  • I wake up starving, I go to bed starving (after just eating/gorging myself for dinner). I think it's worse in the morning because my stomach is saying FEED ME!! but nothing sounds good. This pregnancy is so weird compared to my last.

  • This is pretty horrific. It's been going on for 2 weeks now. I really wish it would stop. How do you keep your hunger under control? My midwife said toast and crackers will be my best friend...but it aint going down...i'm so out of ideas... Good luck to you Meg.

  • 10 weeks here. Same boat! I constantly feel hungry and my stomach makes crazy noises! Small snack every hour or so helps. My purse is loaded up with healthy snacks. I'm in my final semester of college, yay, but nobody knows I'm pregnant yet! I have a 3 hour class and I snack several times. Haha! I get some weird looks but oh well. Steal oats for breakfast keep me full the longest!
  • I love unconventional...haha

Good job with going with healthy snacks...anything healthy makes me gag, no jokes. I'm a healthy eater in general..but all I can get in is FRESH fruit and carbs...thats it...

It's so disappointing to eat something with substance just to be hungry 20min later.. It's all I can think about..how am I going to fill my tummy this time around...aaarghhh.

Oats is a great idea. I'm going to try it out. Thanks.

Good luck with your studies. I'm also studying Psychology on a part time basis. Almost there.

Thanks. You too! So I've just been making toast with peanut butter and jelly on it almost every morning. Doesn't sound good but once I start eating it still taste good. Anyways no good ideas on how to get past it. Just eating to eat and hopefully feel full for a bit (not happening but I know I just ate)

  • I'm having a difficult time eating also. Nothing seems appetizing so I eat white rice and bagels every day. It's pretty annoying but baby gets what baby wants

I put a little honey in the steal oats usually, or strawberry jam. Helps with the flavor.

Good luck with your studies, too! I can't do the late night study sessions anymore...now I wake up at 6AM! How weird! Mornings are when I feel the most physical/mental clarity.

  • I'm 9 weeks and I feel hungry all the time but I have this morning sickness all day too so I can't keep anything on my stomach. I'm trying eating small meals and sometimes doesn't work so now, I'm eating toast and crackers before meals to claim my tummy, and let me eat cuz it feels horrible feeling hungry and just can't eat. ..
  • Yep, I'm dealing with a mixture of hunger pains and nausea 24/7, the pain literally wakes me up in the middle of the night. I'm starving but food looks and sounds gross most of the time. I'm at 9 weeks now and it's been bad for 2 long weeks. I still make myself eat constantly because doc says an empty stomach is the enemy. So I snack all day, fruits and almonds mostly because that's what I can keep down. I drink tons of lemon water, and french fries actually ease the pain for awhile believe it or not! I'm thinking this is just something we have to tough out for awhile, I just hope it doesn't last the whole pregnancy because that would just kill me!
  • Ok. So I contacted my midwife AGAIN. I take msm( magnesium) on a daily basis to help with my muscle/joint pain. I noticed that everytime i had to swallow them I would gag and really push myself to get them in. Then I stopped taking them. 3 days and the nausea is already better. Midwifey said that I can even leave the pregnavit untill 12 weeks and just take folic acid if it helps with nausea. One thing "sorted"/ under control.

But unfortunately hunger persists. I bought some oats and it really does help. I eat it for breakfast and it sets the tone for the rest of the day. Thanks for that one.

I also found that choc flavored milk helps.

Omword....if this hunger thing persist throughout my pregnancy I would die a 1000 times....but it won't. Just wait till week 12..wishful thinking..hahaha

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow. How far are you ladies?
