Re-intro after postponing IVF - ER this week!

Hello again!

Sorry for being MIA.  I posted back in September about moving from IUI to IVF after 5 failed IUIs and 1 medicated TI cycle.  I dropped off the board after insurance required one more IUI (another BFN) and had some pretty bad anxiety and depression about the process.  I become withdrawn when that happens, and I apologize for that.  Work has also kept me extremely busy.  Even though I haven't posted much, please know that I have always kept you all in my prayers!

I'm happy to say that I have since been seeing a therapist, and that it is helping.  I hope to be around here more often, and to share my support as more than a lurker.

It is now cday11 and I have had 10 days of Gonal F and 2 days of Ganirelix.  Other than being sore and extremely tired (that's normal, correct?), it has been okay.  I just heard from the nurse that I am to trigger tonight (at midnight) with Novarel and ER is happening on Wednesday.  My RE does a 5-day transfer, so I guess that means Monday?  It will be a single-embryo transfer.

Any last minute advice for any of this?  I have never had anesthesia, nor any kind of surgery, so I'm a little nervous.

Re: Re-intro after postponing IVF - ER this week!

  • Welcome back @DharmaChick.  I always get really bloated when I am stimming.  I go for my 2nd u/s tomorrow.  I am thinking I will have ER on Saturday.  My RE prefers to do a 5dt, but it all depends on the fert report.  If you have RE on Wednesday, and you do a 5dt, that would be Monday.

    FX for lots of eggs!!

  • I remember you!  How did ER go today?

Good luck with the rest of your journey!
  • They retrieved 24 -  I had no idea that there would be so many - no wonder I was sore and tired!
I'm a bit of a workaholic, but decided to stay home today as I'm so sore and bloated.  The nurse called, and emphasized that it is exactly what I should do, as the high number puts me at a bigger risk of OHSS.  I'll be calling the doc tomorrow if I still feel like this.
The nurse also mentioned that 19 fertilized!!  I am so happily surprised.  I have a history of estrogen-receptive breast cancer in my family, and would not be comfortable with doing another round of stims, so hopefully this good number of embryos will make that unnecessary.  FX!

  • Those are great numbers!!  Fingers crossed for you that a lot of them make it to blast and you have plenty of frosties!

Hope you're feeling better today.  OHSS is no joke!

Good luck with your transfer on Monday.
