April 2014 Moms

What's on this week?

What are your plans? Goals?
Can be as mundane as catching up on laundry or as exciting as climbing Mount Everest!

Re: What's on this week?

  • I'm hoping to get the centrepieces done for a bridal shower I'm co-hosting. There's a recycling centre I know of where I can get mason jars, and I'm making pinwheels out of pretty paper. The shower's a month away still, but it would be nice to have these done since you never know when life will get busy!

  • Laundry, catching up on some work items that have fallen by the wayside, figuring out how to get some large items from MIL's house (7 hours away) before she moves next weekend, and selling some stuff on Craigslist. Shaping up to be an exciting week! Heh.
  • Making 5 valentine gift baskets of home made goodies for the women in DH's family since we are driving to NY Saturday to see them. Prepping and packing for the trip,
That's enough for my little brain on top of regular work, preschool, etc

  • I'm just hoping my week won't include anymore shoveling.@talltrees82, too bad we aren't closer, I make a lot of jam and have a ridiculous amount of mason jars!

  • My list for at school is very long... One thing at a time, right?

For home, we have a family birthday party this weekend and I haven't done any gift shopping.

  • Dad is coming out today, Friday might be a girls night (!!!), Saturday is DH's bday, plus we're getting lunch with a friend from the east coast who is in town.  Busy!

  • My mom and step dad are coming for a visit this week, so just prepping for that. Also, my goal this week is to follow an exercise plan and track on MFP.
  • I'd love to finish our taxes. I think we're going to owe again so I'm really unmotivated.

i feel your pain! i started ours the other day thinking "we had a kid! we'll get a great refund!" only to find out that we will likely just barely escape owing.  not sure how that happened.  blergh.

Ugg. Same here. I was dreaming of what I would spend our refund on. I'd be happy now if we barely escape owing vs. what it looks like we'll owe at this point.

I'm so curious to do ours because I've been on a reduced income and now we have a dependant. Waiting for the paperwork so I can get started!
  • Not too much going on this week. Applied for another job so fingers crossed I get a call back. My sister and her husband are coming over for dinner later in the week. And finishing up some things for her baby shower. Can't wait for nicer weather so I can take LO for walks outside. We mall walk with a friend every week but it's not the same.
  • DH is home from work this week, so I'm hoping that we are able to accomplish a little of my list. Clean out garage, defrost deep freezer, and organize kitchen cabinets.

Also, I get a kid free day on Friday! DS1 will be at preschool & DH is watching DS2. DH bought mani/pedi packages for me & a friend... so excited!

  • Greek-yogurt recommenders....  I just got back from Target and searched for full fat greek yogurt, but couldn't find it (I'm not saying it wasn't there, though. Observational/searching skills are seriously diminished these days when it comes to much besides LO).  Will the non-fat variety still help with the probiotics?

I get this at both Target and my grocery store (in the organic section there):

We just started giving this to LO a few days ago. She ends up pooping very quickly after. I'm wondering if she is having a reaction to the milk. DH and I also don't tolerate cows milk well. How does your LO do with it?
  • I don't know if nonfat yogurt still has the probiotics. I THINK it does. It's the over processed (trix and most dannon kids) that doesn't have the probiotics.

And just a PSA, Yobaby flavored yogurt has added sugar.

  • Check the package - I think it will say somewhere if it has probiotics or not.

Thanks! I searched the fine print and it does say "active cultures" and lists a few different types. So, hopefully that means we're good.
