Strangers!

What do strangers say about your LO?

We pretty consistently get: "Wow, look at those eyes!" or "Such long eyelashes!"

Re: Strangers!

  • @zazu13‌ I'm guessing you get something along the lines of: "what do we have here...twins?" Lol
  • Loading the player...
  • "She looks just like her brother"
"she looks like a one year old already" "love her dark hair"

Her brother always got commets about his eyes when he was little.

  • "Wow, he's big!"
    "He looks like you!"
    "Those cheeks!"

Sometimes I wonder if the people at the rec centre think I'm lying about his age to get him in for free (kids under 1 are free).
  • "wow, he's big!" is our most popular one too.

"he looks just like you" OR "he looks just like your DH" happen in just about equal proportions, which cracks me up.  we call him our little shape-shifter.

"Look at that smile! And, wow, all those teeth!" (he's got 8 and shows them off frequently)
  • Look at those eyes!
    Your baby is so beautiful!
    What a cutie!
  • "He's so cute!"

My LO is a girl. It happens if she's in pink too. And her hair is longer. Cracks me up!

  • We always get "Look at those eyes!" And disbelief that he's "only ____ (however many at that time) months old". He is a big boy, but I don't know that the shock is necessary!

I remember this happening to me when I was a kid. But my hair was short and it was the 70's, so my mom dressed me in rust and olive green. Haha.
    Picture please!!! Haha!!

  • Alas, pics are packed away, but people weren't wrong to be confused. If I have a chance to dig out a good one, I will.

My mom dressed me like a boy too! My hair didn't start getting longer until I was about 3.
  • Most people say "look at those blue eyes" or "what a cute smile" but some random (usually old) people have actually said comments about his scar from his cleft lip repair. We were at a brewery the other day having lunch and this old guy came up to us and said, "I see your little guy has problems but he is such a happy guy so you guys must be doing something right".

Seriously dude? My husband wanted to punch him.

Haha! Yes. Followed by either "are they identical?", "do twins run in your family" and either "aw, I always wanted twins" or " you must have your hands full. " I also get a fair amount of "so one boy and one girl?" Umm... Which one looks like the boy? Since they are dressed in the same outfit and a bow. Silly people. Most people are very nice and just say how cute they are. Which is true.

  • We get "what beautiful blue eyes" and "what a happy baby" a lot, which makes me happy.

Also plenty of questions about his helmet, some more tactful than others ("What's wrong with his head?!? Will he be okay?". Cutest was a little boy who asked his dad why the baby was wearing a  wrestling helmet :) )

I get this all the time! They consistently think Lucy is a boy though she's wearing pink and has an identical sister! What the?! I just don't understand what people are thinking!

I have absolutely zero tact and haven't been here since the beginning... may I ask about the helmet?

  • We get "what beautiful eyes." And "is it a boy or a girl." Oh and "does she ever smile?" She's a girl, blue eyes, and she's a bit thrifty with stranger smiles. I wouldn't have it any other way. People be creepers.

  • We get a lot of "but she looks like a two year old!?" comments... Followed by varieties of "is it normal for her to be so tall at 9 months?"...

Most of the time I look from me (5ft 8) to my hubby (6ft 3) and give them a withering stare...
