Sorry to be mia - I went into labor Fri morning and our little BOY arrived Sat morning at 10:49am after a very long and challenging labor.
Strong contractions 7-10 min apart Fri am, saw my dr, got sent for ultrasound since I was late - discovered he was around 6lbs, 4oz - 8oz - small since a week late. They said if labor didn't progress they would induce.
By 4:30 we went to hospital as my contractions were very strong and 3-5min apart. The pain was unreal. I was only 2cm though and 80-90% effaced.
I was crying - finally broke down and asked for epidural. Got it around 6:30 or 7. It was amazing even though it meant I was stuck in bed.
Finally got moved to our own room from triage around 8:30 - they were busy that night and around 11 they did another cervical check - I was only 3-4cm then. They recommended breaking my water but I resisted and we decided to revisit later. At 2am they checked - made it to 7cm and decided since I was progressing to break water. By 5 or so am I was 8-9cm so we got excited. Then contractions slowed down again - this is what kept happening all day / night Fri.
At 8am I was finally ready to push. Again contractions slowed. Started pitocin at 8:30ish to help. I threw up probably around 10 - too much water. And then spiked a fever. But finally after 2 1/2 hours of pushing our little boy arrived into the world at 6lbs, 6oz and 19inches long!
Because of my fever which was already on the way down and a small amount of meconium when they broke the bag - they only gave him to me for a minute and then took him but brought him back within 5 min. DH was with him and cut the cord. We had some nice skin to skin and even nursed a little.
It's been a blur - severely bruised tailbone means I don't feel much pain from stitches - 2nd degree. Am now on basically mod. Bed rest since getting up/down is so painful. DH has been amazing. Nursing challenges - but we have a plan.
Amazing story and photo! I'm sorry to hear about the tailbone and 2nd degree tear, but glad that you stuck to your guns with the breaking of your water and ended up with a vaginal delivery and a healthy kiddo. I hope you heal quickly and that the fever is gone for good, and of course, that you figure out breastfeeding really soon! Thanks for sharing.

First, your baby is so handsome. Makes me excited for my boy's arrival!
I know all about being so sore after being ripped up from birth. Its hard to imagine it now, but you will feel better! It seems at first the healing is pretty slow then it will take a big leap forward quite suddenly. I had lots of back and tailbone issues after the birth of my second, that took longer to feel better than the stitching soreness. But it got to where I could function in everyday life and work through the pain in not too long a time.

PAIF/SAIF welcome
Thank you all! This week has been a whirlwind - I can't believe my little boy is a week old already! The recovery was really rough - until Weds / Thurs moving was so painful due to deep bruising of tailbone, but it is improving now. Still painful but not impeding movement.
Exhaustion is very real - but my little boy makes it so worth it. I keep looking at him incredulously that he is really here and is really ours!
We also had some stressful breastfeeding issues - he latched on right away at the hospital and while it was challenging to get him to latch each time, we always were able to eventually get there and he would always nurse at least for a few minutes or longer sometimes. Came home Monday (in the middle of a horrific snowstorm - DH had to shovel a path for us to get to the door!) he nursed when we first got home but then a few hours later stopped nursing, or only nursed for a couple minutes. Called ped later that night - they told me to supplement w formula - which thankfully I had just in case and come in the next day. He lost 2 oz from when he left the hospital the prior day - scary since he had already lost 8 oz post birth. Dr. told us to use formula until we saw lactation consultant she recommended, which was the next day. Now we are doing 100% better. When we went back on Thursday he had gained back 5 oz. Still not at birth weight but more than on the right path. Going in on Tuesday, but I can see he is doing great - his belly is no longer hollow looking. And he is nursing very regularly for good periods of time.
