Runner moms with outside babies

How long after delivery did you all start running again? How did you feel during and after the run? C-section or vaginal delivery? How far into your pregnancy did you continue to run?

Of course I've gotten the standard 6 week wait. Just curious as to if anyone has actually started back already. And how it feels to be back running.

I'm doing a "run" at 1 month post c-section. I fully intend to walk the entire race. Just trying to decide between the 5k and 15k.

Re: Runner moms with outside babies

  • My doctor does a 4 week check-up rather than a 6 week. I think with other babies I was cleared to work-out and run at the 4 week point. I plan to start again next week (my check-up is this Thursday).

  • Thanks @MusicFanatic‌. I'm itching to get back out there. I definitely won't til I'm completely healed. But I can't wait!!! I know it will be tough, even though my last run was around 36 weeks.

  • Me, I took my first run just shy of 5 weeks.

Had a vaginal delivery and I stopped running around 20 weeks because I started developing high BP/issues and then I was on hospital bedrest.
I wasn't technically cleared yet, but I know my body and I knew it felt OK to run.
First one was tough, but I don't think it had anything to do with my PP state.. and everything to do with 13 weeks of strict bedrest. My joints and muscles were hard to get moving.
It's been 3 weeks since then and I'm up to 10 mile runs with a few 15's in the mix and feel 100% fine.
Wow, good for you! I'm usually proud of my 1-2 mile runs! I need to learn how to run (and enjoy running) so that I can increase my distance!

  • First run about 4 weeks, started short with the stroller and felt great, besides my boobs from all the bouncing...
  • With DD1 I ran til 33w, had c section and took my first run at 6w... Felt a little rough... Needed some abdominal support... This time I ran til 17w and had to stop from subchorionic bleed, delivered RCS and should be getting cleared at 6w again. I'll wait til then.

  • I ran my last pregnant run right at 37 weeks pregnant. I was back at it right at 2 weeks post partum. I'm almost 5 weeks post partum and I'm back up to 20-25 miles per week with my longest run being back up to 6 miles.

I had a vaginal delivery with no intervention and no complications.

Also I just wear the same two at a time sports bras I did during pregnancy and it's not bothered my breastfeeding
