Who else is having headaches?

So I came down with some sort of 24 hr sickness starting Saturday and all symptoms went a away except for this pounding headache. It has not subsided since Saturday night and here we are on Tuesday morning. I've read that headaches are common in third tri and was just wondering who else is experiencing them and what are you doing to get them to go away if anything? So far I've tried drinking a lot of water, getting more rest, and relaxing in a warm bath.

Re: Who else is having headaches?

  • I have had chronic migraines with aura and headaches most of my life. Pregnancy seems to make them worse. Try an ice pack. You can also try Tylenol and drink a bit of caffeine. Otherwise, it sounds like you're doing what you can outside of prescription medication.

  • I was just googling this! They've come in out of no where and seem to be here to stay. Nothing is working for me so I'm totally useless in offering any kind of advice but I'm really happy there are fellow sufferers! Wow that was nice of me eh....thanks for your suffering so I don't feel alone? This isn't coming out right.
  • One other thought. If you're open to it, acupuncture can be helpful.

  • I have had headaches through this entire pregnancy in just starting my third trimester and I'm sure they will continue. I find coffe helps I know you're suppose to limit your caffeine intake so I stick to a cup first thing in the morning and a cup around mid afternoon it helps me some also if you can try a nap in the afternoon or just lie in a dark room for 20 minutes or so this seems to help as well. If worse comes to worse ice packs or warm towels on the temples.
  • It wouldn't hurt to talk to a nurse or a doctor. Headaches can mean a lot of different things. Have you had your blood pressure taken recently?

  • Thanks for all go feedback. I am definitely open to acupuncture as I tend to lean toward the homeopathic healing stuff. @be888 I was just saying to a co worker if it hasn't stopped by tomorrow I will call my doc just to be sure they don't want to check anything out. Thanks for the tip!
  • I've suffered from migraines with and without aura my entire life...until I got pregnant.  Now I'm pretty much headache-free.  Weird.

However, I second whoever said to go get your blood pressure checked.
  • Definitely have your blood pressure checked. I have severe migraines only when pregnant. They have put me in the hospital. I use aspirin-free Excedrin (basically tylenol with caffeine) as my first line of defense the moment I feel it coming on. I have a great ice pack that helps too.

I have also resorted to prescription medications. They are not my first choice, but they do work. I haven't had to go to the hospital this pregnancy yet.

  • Tylenol. A hot rice pack (cheap option, put rice in a sock, tie it off, microwave it). Also try acupressure. If you push the skin in between your first finger and thumb it pulses your forehead (no idea why), or my favorite is to just tap the area between my eyebrows.

It all kind of depends on what type if headache. Th sock of rice works great for sinus.
  • I third getting your blood pressure checked.
  • I'm having headaches from hitting my head against the wall repeatedly.

    Does that count?
  • Serious answer:

    Check your BP.
Look for other symptoms such as swollen face, feet, legs or hands including pitting edema.
  • I have had headaches the last couple of days. Tylenol helps but I keep taking my temperature cause I'm worried I might get the flu since I was exposed to the flu
