July 2015 Moms

I have a question about those little kicks!

Hey moms to be!
I went in for my 14 week appointment, to find I have a little boy inside me! Yay!
Not getting my hopes too high, just in case, but I'm sure I saw that little weenie!
Anyways, my little man is measuring at 4.6 inches!!! WHAT!?!
That being said, sprites a question in my head, will I feel him kick earlier?
According to those measurements, this app say that's 16 weeks. (Although I know I'm not)
But, you can feel movement then, some moms at least, which makes me think I will earlier?
What're your thoughts guys!?
Thanks in advance!

I felt my first around 16 weeks. So if your baby is measuring at that I suppose it's very possible! I feel flutters like a goldfish swimming around now and I'm 14 weeks 2 days. Sure is a great feeling!

  • You may. I felt DD between 14 and 15 weeks, but a lot of FTM's don't until later. It's usually because they aren't sure what to feel for.

  • Yes. My first.
I feel like I'm definitely in tune with my body, but I don't know what to feel for, not exactly at least.
I've heard that when you do really feel it, you'll know. Kinda like you know when you're in labor. Lol.
  • Oh thanks, I didn't realize it had my personal info on it.
  • This is my first and I started feeling flutters in the beginning of week 14!! I usually feel it when I'm reclined on the couch or driving. Im 15 weeks now and notice it alot more often.
  • This is my first. I have been feeling flatters for a week or so now. So awesome!! Definitely not gas. Also, the other night I was in a bend over position for a bit, and the baby literally kicked me - a strong set of two movements as if somebody was rubbing their fist on the inside of me!! Needless to say I jumped up scared out of my skin at first lol. Can't wait till those movements become more prevalent.

  • My OB said as a second timer between 12-14 is very realistic. So I'd imagine as a ftm, at this point it's definitely possible. The baby tickles me from the inside right now. It's the craziest feeling.

@abima‌ ummm I am a STM and I def did not know I was n labor for my first. My water did not break and I had been having Braxton hicks for the last 3 months. Once I was full term I would count the length and duration till the next one. When I finally was in labor I was so sick of the false contractions that when I finally realized what was happening the contractions were coming every minute!

I am 13 weeks and have been feeling this baby since I was 12. I was 20 weeks when I felt my first. At first it felt like a fish moving n water. Now its random pokes.
  • If the date on your scan are right you're 17 so I'll just nicely say if youre using the cm measurement at you'reop definitely not the size of your baby. If your baby was measuring at 16 instead of 14 they would have changed your due date. Ask your Dr at each scan to tell you how big baby is so you are clear.

Ok thank you for clarifying this. I was staring at the U/S and I could not figure out why she thought she was measuring at 16 weeks. From what I see, it says just under 14 weeks. But this makes sense. OP, have your OB/UST explain what the info is on your u/s if you're unclear.

With my first I didn't feel anything until closer to 20 weeks. And as "in tune with  your body" as you think you may be, your body is completely different now. So you are no longer as in tune as you may think. This is something you've never felt before, never experienced before, so my guess is that you won't feel anything for 4-5 more weeks.

  • It also depends on where your placenta is located. If you have an anterior placenta, you might not feel your baby until 25-ish weeks. Don't rush things - soon enough, our babies will be kicking the snot out of us and we'll be complaining that we can't sleep.  :D

  • I'd have to look on my old computer to find out how far along I was in my third pregnancy when I felt movement. Not sure where the info is for pregnancies one and two. However, last time, the first movements I felt were like corn popping. I think it was another week and a half before I felt anything a second time. Each pregnancy has resulted in feeling movement earlier.
