I have an older (2002) Tahoe and love it. I feel a little embarassed to say this but I hope we get a Kia Sorento for our next new car. It has a third row and fully loaded it's cheaper than a lot of other stock SUVs.
I had a Kia when dd was little and my parents had a Kia sorento. We both had lots of seat belt issues. They were constantly breaking. I kept moving dd's car seat every time one broke and ended up with all three broken in the matter of months. They had to replace them all. My parents had the same problem with theirs. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
How long ago was that? KIA has come a really long way in the past 5-10 years. H bought a 2012 Kia Rio because he needed a really good commuter car (he drives sometimes up to 2 hours each way) and we have had absolutely no problems with it the past 3 years. It runs great, gets close to 30mpg, has a really good warranty and it was cheap. We got it for like 14k brand new. I also have two friends that have the newer sorentos and they love it.
We both bought our cars about 10 years ago now, but my mom just got rid of hers last year and had seat belt problems until she got rid of it. She had each seat belt replaced several times. If it would have been one replacement I would have thought they fixed the issue, but several over years makes me think they didn't fix the problem.
We have a 2013 Rav4 and and an older Toyota Corolla, love them both. Very reliable, The Rav4 is really roomy - we got the fully loaded version with the door that opens with the button, touch door locks etc. I love that thing. only thing I would trade it for is a Highlander because of the extra row of seating but didn't want to spend that much at the time.
We traded in a Subaru legacy for a Chevy equinox. We almost did the traverse for the 3rd row but we figured we wait to see if we have more babies. We love the equinox.
I can't tell you how much I loath minivans. I feel like my soul would be sucked from my body if I had to get one.
I have a CRV and am experiencing the same cramped feeling with having two kids that are 2 and younger and all the crap that they require. Especially the double stroller. I am looking at trading in for a Honda Odyssey. I never, ever, ever, EVER thought I'd be driving a minivan, but I think it makes the most sense for our needs right now.

We got our first minivan when we had our second baby. We couldn't fit groceries in the car with the stroller in the trunk. It was ridiculous. Minivans are very functional. Not super sexy, but they do their job. Kind of like the cotton briefs of the car world. I will say my Nissan quest has some get up and go.
I just recently traded my Mazda 3 hatchback in for a Subaru XV Crosstrek. I really didn't like the Forester and the Outback was just beyond my budget. Granted, the Crosstrek is like having my car all beefed up on steroids. It's not *that* much bigger, but it feels like such a difference at the moment. Now the only question is how cramped will it be with a second child...
