GTKY: how long have you been with your partner?

I'm just curious because it seems like a lot of the newer members are recently married and I feel like an old maid.....well not really.
This afternoon DH was walking past me and started kissing the back of my neck which he knows I love. So I told him he better cut it out or our son will make him stop ( our kids don't like when we are mushy). He replied that it is not a bad thing to still be in love with me after all this time. Then we started figuring out his long we have been together.
We have been married 11 years but have been together 16.
That seems like forever but we are still in love. Not silly sappy love like when you are young, but deep rooted comfortable love. It's not all romance anymore but it's true love and I'm lucky to have it.

So ladies tell us all how long you have been with your partner. Even you newly weds.

DH and I have been together about 13 years, married for 3. @hooligans4‌ I know what you mean about the deep rooted love and I'm pretty thankful as well. DH can still be pretty romantic at times, which is nice too.

We have been married for 15 years and together for 17. Typing that out makes me feel really old.

I'm have been with my current husband for 6 years, a little over a year was long distance and we've been married for 2 years.

My parents have been married for 45 yrs and still have that kind of marriage. I hope we are like that years from now. 

My BF and I have been together for 27 months (still in the toddler years HAHA!) Doing things a little backwards. We'll get married after we have a baby. I don't want to be preggers when I walk down the isle.

We have been together 13 years and married for almost 4. My parents are at 40 years and are still madly in love. When I first introduced my DH to my parents, they kissed and he asked if they were always like that. To me it is completely normal, but his parents divorced early so he wasn't used to parents like that.

Wow!  I feel like crazy for saying this.  We have been together for 9 months.  Things have moved way fast with us.  But, that happens when you truly meet your other half which completes you.  For both of us, the first day we meet it all seemed right.  He told me that day, you might as well tell any other person you may be talking to, you are mine and taken.  Well then?  A couple days later, he said to me, it seems like I have known you before. (we never met) I looked at him and laughed.  Funny I was about to say it feels like I have known you forever and I have been looking for you all my life.  It hasn't been an easy 9 months and he isn't the easiest person to know, but I understand him to his soul and he completes my soul and heart.

Hmmm... we've been sort of together for about 7.5 years but neither of us knows when we stopped beign friends and started dating.  We've been living together for a few years and married a whole 4.5 months.  

Teenie16 we were going to do it backwards too but when it didn't happen right away we planned a wedding and put it on hold for about 6 months.  Now wishing we hadn't.

I've been with my husband for 17 years - married a little over a year and a half. We also have a contested "start" time for dating - he claims we were dating WAY before we actually were but we've been friends for maybe 19 years and it gradually turned into something else.

I think it's so awesome to see how long some of us have been together because it seems that so many people just quit and give up.

H and I just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary, together 6 years overall. Like others, we've been together since the first day we met. It was one of those yep, you're stuck with me for the rest of your life

We've been married for 14 years, been together for 18. We met just before he graduated college, and I was finishing my sophomore year... a few more days and he would have moved back home and we never would have met! I was buying bride magazines a month after I met him... I just knew

@hooligans4 we always planned to be together for long haul, had a few rough spots, separated for 6 months and then decided to finally make it official. Originally, when we first were together I was pretty anti-marriage, the suddenly it became something I actually wanted. Life works in mysterious ways! Strangely enough - even though we were together for SO long before marriage, our relationship is actually different now than before the wedding - stronger/better/ more in sync!

I've known DH for 2.5 years and we'll be married 6 months this month! We moved a little fast bc we knew we wanted to try for kiddos and my clock is ticking, so we had a short engagement...proposed last January and married in July.

We did too!  Met October ish 2012 moved in April 2013, married September 2013.. so known each other just over three years, married for 2+

I have to say that I have noticed many of our situations has us older than our husbands. 

I kind of felt odd with him being younger than me but it seems to happen quite a bit!

Met my DH in 7th grade. Started dating in 9th grade and dated until we got married. Been married for almost 12 yrs.
All in all, my DH has been in my life for the past 26 yrs!!

Nikolie93 it is.  I never believed in such stuff....then I do.  He is my heart and soul, I have never felt so complete, all the emptiness I never knew was there is gone. I shock and scare myself....I am such a strong and independent person, I never believed someone could complete you.

I met my now husband 3 years ago.  Our first date was on April Fool's day.  Once I realized that our first date was going to be on April Fool's I immediately called my BFF to ask her if she thought it was some kind of joke...lol.  We dated 7 months before getting engaged and got married 5 months later.  Our 2 year anniversary is in April (not April Fool's Day though)

@Nikolie93‌ I noticed that too...my DH is the only person I ever dated younger than me. I used to be sort of "old" for my age, so I always dated older thinking that would be a good fit. Nope, here I am married to someone five years younger who acts like he's 10 years younger...and I couldn't be happier!

@wannabmama23‌ I grew up very quickly due to life experiences so when I was younger I also dated older guys!

A story I find funny: MH and I had a long distance relationship for over a year. One time (early in our relationship) he was visiting me. I got all dressed up in my nice jeans, shirt and high heel hooker shoes. I come downstairs and he's wearing jeans, sneakers, and a t shirt that said "cougar bait" I laughed so hard and we so went out like that. The looks we got were awesome!
