Tonight, my husband and I decided to savor our spontaneity and go to the movies- Hunger Games: Mocking Jay. In the row behind us were a mom, dad, and 3 girls approximately 4, 6, and 8 yrs old. The six year old talked to mom throughout the whole damn thing. The 8 year old narrated the whole damn thing and the 4 year old was fucking sick and at one point coughed ON me and I felt saliva hitting my cheek. She also sat on dad's lap a few times kicking my seat. If you were in these parents situation, what would you do? Please select one of the following, keeping in mind that there are only 2 types of people in the world.

Stay the fuck at home. Teach my kids to be quiet in a movie theater.

  • I wouldn't have taken my kids to that movie at that age. That above situation is why I try to avoid the dollar movie theaters most times. Especially in the Valley.

DS has autism so we usually try to plan movie trips on Saturdays for the earliest showings since 9x out of 10 they aren't that crowded. I mean he's fine all the time he just get really into the movies and can get excited loudly somedays.
  • I don't think that movie was age appropriate for that group of kids. Why not avoid the kids killing kids and other violence in that series? In movies meant for kids that age I'd expect that type of thing to happen.

However I'm a super talker in movies which means sometimes my H goes alone to have his peace but I'm not usually loud enough for anyone but him to hear.

  • Many years ago I went to the midnight showing of Freddy vs Jason and was horrified to be sitting next to two women with kids the same ages as the kids that were at your movie. I am still haunted by if to this day ... I imagine so are those kids.
  • I would only take kids that age to a day time showing of a kids movie. Never the Hunger Games.

  • We had the same thing when we went to see the hunger games except the youngest was about 2! It was ridiculous! I wanted to scream because they were so distracting. I woulda just waited for a day where DH and I could go alone.
  • That is so annoying!! I saw High Tension in theaters years ago and some woman brought her 4 year old. He was SO scared and cried a lot. I complained and after the movie ended she ran after me as I walked to my car and confronted me in a very rude way. Oh well, I was still glad I said something!!
  • We skip the theaters altogether and pay the same price for the DVD. Watching at home, we can talk all we want. Also, my girls are 10 and 11 and I won't let them do Harry Potter just yet, let alone a story where its entertainment to force children to fight to the death. Those (HP) gave even me some scary dreams, and I watched those when I was 30!
  • I clicked on the last one mainly b/c I don't really think hunger games is age appropriate for those kids so them being trained enough to sit through the movie is irrelevant.  I would have come to the movies and left them home! Date night! :-)  I'm so hoping we can find a wonderful baby sitter.

  • Who are the 2 that thinks its OK to be a douche parent?  I mean come on are you serious!!!
