Home Birth in NE NC....Help!!

Hey ladies!! I have searched high and low for a midwife to attend a home birth. I am only 5 short miles from VA (where the laws are different) and cannot find anyone within 3-4 hours. At this point I'm going to have to go "underground" and find someone through word of mouth. Any one have any information?! Thanks!!

Might have to search "underground." I planned a homebirth with #3 when I lived in Eastern NC.

Do you have and recommendations as to how to go about finding one underground? I search high and low with #3 with no success. Now that #4 is on the way, I don't want to give up looking!! I've contacted doulas and reached out to different organizations with no luck.

@usernameedit Yes, we settled with my last on a birth enter (only one around here is attached to the hospital) and it was great, but no the home birth I have longed for!!

I'm surprised you haven't had better luck getting a midwife. I see there are a couple in Elizabeth City and Rocky Mount. Are these too far from you? Best of luck!

There are midwives around, however, they do not attend home births. I actually had my third with midwives at a birth center in Norfilk, Va. Through a mutual friend, I am meeting with someone tomorrow so my figure are crossed it will work out!!
