Long story here but the bottom line is my mom is insisting that my LO is gassy because he can't process dAIry and soy. He's also needed some rectal stimulation in the last few weeks to keep him poopping regularly. My mom swears his inability to process dAIry and soy is the reason. My pediatrician says no- some babies just need the stimulation and it's not related to what they eat unless you see blood in their stool or notice a rash.
I'm curious what behaviors in your LOs clued you mamas in to try elimination.
EDITED: correcting autocorrect failures regarding diary vs dairy. I didn't pick up on the typo through my tears as I typed my original post. Sorry.

Re: BF Moms who eliminated DAIRY and soy- what clued you in?
We suspect the twins might as well since they are very gassy. I have reduced, but not eliminated dairy.
I asked what the chances were that the twins would get it since dd did. He said it was slightly higher. He also said they might not have the same symptoms.
Towards the beginning of BF'ing I swore every discomfort my lo experienced was from my milk. My pedi and the baby 411 book stated that 9 times out of 10 that is just not the case. We want to think that we can fix everything for our lo's, but the fact of the matter is that babies are gassy and uncomfortable in the beginning when trying to digest, their tiny little bodies just aren't used to it. After we eat we just go to the bathroom and feel better. For our LO's they aren't quite sure what to think/feel about what's going on in their tiny little tummies.
I didn't eliminate dairy, my baby is gassy at times, and uncomfortable at times too. It's normal.

I think what clued me in was my fourth entry regarding sleep deprivation while trying to write with the pen in my mouth (since I don't ever have free hands). At that point, I realized I needed to be free of my diary.

H is allergic to dairy, so I think I'm a little paranoid about it. Also, BIL is studying to become a nutritionist, and when I told him that I cut out dairy to help with the baby's gas, he said, "Oh, great. I was going to recommend that, but I didn't want to offend you."
I still allow myself one serving a day. It may be in the form of chocolate or a yogurt. I haven't had cheese or straight up cow's milk in a latte or anything, though.
