I see it every time I open pinterest and want to gouge out my eyeballs.
My friend has chosen this name for her little girl. We went to college together and both earned English degrees (hers should be revoked).
I don't feel close enough to her to say "wtf is this shit?" but I lose a little bit of my tact every time I see it.
It's truly horrible.
I need help.

Re: Ryleigh
I have mixed feelings.
Riley is really a surname, right? To me, surnames are genderless. I do usually eyeroll at them in general on either sex-- because they are SO trendy.
The other thing though is that there are multiple spellings of surnames-- including this one. I know a family who spells it Riley, and one that spells it Reilly. Both are accepted alternate spellings.
The "leigh" is bad though, you have me there.

Ew.
I have a good friend who is a highly respected physician, and when she was pregnant with #2 she said she was considering Braxton. I told her (jokingly) that we couldn't be friends anymore. Her and her H eventually decided on Evan. Thank God. Sadly education does not always equal good naming ideas.
Right, this is clearly an invented spelling. Just wanted to point out that I don't think we can assign a gender to a surname, and there are many surnames with several "accepted" alternate spellings that depend on where your family originated from.
