Sleep time tantrums

Am I the only one experiencing sleep time tantrums? Naps and bedtime turn into a screaming match and i don't know who cries more, me or him. He fights his sleep so bad and does not give in. My DH and I are at our wits end. I talked to his pedi about it and he said some babies are just overly sensitive to movement, sounds and lights and it's hard to them to fall asleep. I'm praying this is just part of his 3rd leap (he turned 3m yesterday).

Re: Sleep time tantrums

  • We had this for about a week (between 11-12 weeks). I don't know if it was a growth spurt, leap, or us being away on vacation but it's back to being much easier now so I hope your are just going theu a phase. Do you swaddle or use a sleep sack? I like to dim the lights and rock and read a book before some nap times if she's gotten fussy and walk around with the whire noise

  • I use a sleep sack at night and swaddle for naps because daytime sleep is even harder. He likes the sound of bath water so I run that to make him calm down and use the humidifier for the water sound while he's sleeping. All of this would be easier if I knew it will be over soon. I need to invest in a sound machine I guess

Totally agree. The Homedics Sound Spa is awesome, we have one for each kid plus one at each of the grandparents' house!

  • We ended up getting a heated mattress pad for lo's crib. He would jolt awake with the temperature change from cuddling with me or dh to laying on the cold mattress
