So, one of my husband's work benefits is 20 free hours of childcare for this move. However, the daycare facility on base does not do hourly care for kiddos under 1. To use this benefit, we'd have to go to a home daycare provider, off base. I know absolutely nothing about this woman, her facilities, her other kids, etc.
I called her last week to schedule him for this coming week. She said it would probably work but she'd give me a call back after she got the kids down for a nap. I never got a call back. That, plus just the way she was talking (she seemed very reluctant), rubbed me the wrong way.
I don't want to do it. I viscerally do not want to send him to this random home for a day. I would rather wear him all day while the movers pack us up. Am I crazy?
Re: Sanity Check - daycare
Now I'm not an alarmist at all. And that's obviously a very dramatic, extreme example of what can go wrong. We had no reasons not to trust that woman- our dd was always well cared for and loved. So if you're already starting out feeling reservations, don't do it!

Unless they would allow me to use the credit to choose my own care provider and watch baby at my own home I wouldn't bother.
