So I've had a very uninteresting pregnancy up until this past Friday. At 2:45 am, out of the blue, my water broke. I was only 25w4d so I obviously went into panic mode. They confirmed that I was leaking amniotic fluid and was dilated 2cm. I was transferred to another hospital better equipped for handling high risk situations. They let me know that even though my water broke, I wouldn't be delivering my baby just yet as I wasn't in active labor. No contractions, no infection, baby not in distress. It's a hard thing to grasp, knowing that I could be in the hospital for up to 10 weeks, but a much better alternative to delivering at 25 weeks. So here I lay in my hospital bed, until baby is ready to make his/her arrival (we're team green). It's so hard to be so helpless, especially as a FTM. You always assume things will go exactly to plan. There's nothing I can do from this point forward to make sure this little one stays cooking, except pray. I hope you all have a beautiful New Years and I'm so excited for us all to meet our beautiful little babies in 2015!
Hoping your LO stays put for as long as possible. I would imagine bedrest in a hospital is pretty awful but hopefully being under the watchful eyes of the staff will help keep that baby cooking!
@nittycola - My PPROM happened at 20w1d. I'm at 23w today, and babies seem to be staying put.
No contractions and no infection are both really important. I hope it stays that way. Did they start you on antibiotics (to prevent infection) and steroids (to develop LO's lungs, in the event that you go into labor).
Waiting, monitoring, and trying your best to stay positive are all good tactics (at least that's what I've been doing).
If you want to talk to someone who can relate, PM me anytime.
Thanks everybody. I appreciate all the kind sentiments and I'm doing my best to stay strong! I'll keep you posted if anything changes, but hopefully this little one stays put for a while!
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! I am so, so thankful that your little one is staying put for the time being. Every single day you keep that baby inside is a huge, huge deal. If you ever want to talk please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
