Hi! I'm just so curious about the cravings. I think I may have had one last week but I'm not sure. How soon do they start? How strong are they? I'm still pretty nauseated by everything though. Thanks!
The first few times I have been pregnant, my DH kept waiting for me to ask him to run out to get pickles and ice cream or something strange at 2 AM. But it never really happens like that for me. For me it's more like certain foods that I used to really like, don't sound quite as good, but other foods that I didn't really like, sound a lot better.
For example, I used to be the biggest wimp when it came to spicy stuff. Then when I had my oldest, I started liking spicy stuff and eating it more. I really bumped up my tolerance and now enjoy "medium" hot salsa (before, even "mild" was too much for me).
I also have always liked sweet/tart candy like Nerds, Sweet Tarts and Airheads but rarely bought them. But now that I am pregnant, I am eating some Airheads as I type this out (at 11 AM).
So it's not really like the cravings they show you in movies. Just more a shift in your likes/dislikes. At least that's how it's been for me.

DH told me he's waiting for to make a midnight run for a crazy request! It's like a rite of passage for him or something, I don't know. But I haven't really craved anything either. I agree with @valigrl21. I have aversions now and some things actually sound good that didn't. I love candy now too (Runts) and beer actually smells good, when it was pretty gross to me before.

You don't always get cravings or food aversions with pregnancies and like pp said every pregnancy is different. If you do have any I would say they'd start once you are feeling better/less nauseous I'm having some this pregnancy that started around 11 weeks and I know they are cravings because it's things I don't normally eat like red meat.
This is my 4th pregnancy and I've never really had cravings. Not like people describe them at least.

I must be the weird one out because I get CRAVINGS. Like so bad, must have right now or else I will cry cravings. Stuff like a certain kind of chips, a glass-bottled cream soda, a Caesar salad with so many crutons...stuff like that.

I never had insane cravings - some things sounded slightly better -- like burgers, etc -- but, if anything, I have had more food aversions in both pregnancies.

Well the only experience I had was when I had this uncontrollable urge for something I already had many times before. I remember being with DH and him trying to find them (I wanted gnocchi, which I have always loved, being part Italian ) and going to three Italian restaurants, and not being able to even read the menu unless I spotted the name. It was weird, but I wasn't sure if it was a craving because it wasn't something like spicy pickles or ice cream jeje, meaning something I don't usually like.
