My nose has been stuffy and I've been sneezing since about week 6...I am terrified of the NetiPot because the one time I tried it I was a little too vigorous and I took out my nose ring....and let's just say it was unpleasant and painful all around. Benadryl helps at night when it's bad enough to warrant it though.
I've been trying to manage my current sinus infection drug free. I have chronic sinus infections and my favorite non-neti pot remedy is to simply lay warm compresses across my forehead and nose/cheeks (locations of sinuses and turbinates). If you don't already have a reusable compress and don't want a wet face, fill a clean white sock with a cup of uncooked rice, tie closed, and microwave for 1 minute. Sounds crazy and low tech, but does help with congestion if you're not keen on OTC or RX meds.
A few other things I've found helpful are my humidifier will a few drops of eucalyptus oil and a put a spoonful of Vicks vapor rub in a scentsy warmer. If I can breathe, then I can sleep! :-)
The honest company has an awesome vapor rub type ointment that is organic and chemical free so safe for pregnancy. I love it. I keep it in my purse and sniff it when needed or rub a little under my nose. I teach middle schoolers and sometimes all I smell if their unpleasant smell after pe. I use it so I don't have to smell them either and the lavender oil can help stave off what little morning sickness I have had. I have been blessed in that for sure.
it does give you a little of the "water up the nose feeling" but it's not terrible, you get little packets to mix into warm water that make a saline solution. That way it doesn't burn like pool water, ocean water or even just plain water. I like using it sometimes but it's tough if you're really congested as it won't flow very easily.
+1 to the warm compress though, it's supposed to work wonders
