I love Ewan, but the H does not. We liked Owen when naming our son, but I am not fond of the popularity either. When I came across this name, I thought I may be able to persuade my H to use this spelling, which I much prefer.

ETA: I know a woman who has a Eoin on her son's basketball team. She said some people never pronounce it correctly, but people get it for the most part. That said, we're in a pretty heavily Irish area.
ETA: I also want to throw out Iain. I have a friend whose son has that name, and I adore it. It's a Scottish version, so it would be a stronger nod to your background.
I personally would not know how to pronounce it, and I'm a teacher outside Boston, so I've seen a lot of Gaelic names. I think it's cute though... But I think you'll have to pronounce it for a lot of people
