I know alot of people don't do cable these days and use Netflix or Hullu, but is there an option for sports fans? DH loves his football and basketball, is there anyway to watch live sports without cable?
Not as far as we have ever found and we have searched around a bit as we would love to get rid of cable but can't because of sports. Let us know if you find anything!!
We split the cost of cable with a family member and then we use the espn streaming app. It's the only set of channels we want so not worth getting cable. We used to go out for a lot of games but that's obviously much harder with kids now!
We are a football house too - DH and DS love to watch football, but we're going to cancel cable soon. $150/month is crazy! I think we're going to only get cable during football season (month-to-month) and then just use an antenna and Amazon Prime outside of that. I wish cable companies would let people pick channels a la carte! It would be so much cheaper for us since we only regularly watch maybe 10 channels at the most.
No specific solution for basketball and football, but for hockey and baseball DH orders the live streaming (MLB.TV and NHL Center Ice). Luckily we do not live in the market of the teams we love and do not have to deal with black outs for local airing. For football DH listens to streaming radio or we go to a bar/restuarant.
No good solution but we don't want to pay for cable to only watch sports when it's hard to even watch with two little ones. We just catch the games that are airing on local stations because we have an antenna. DH is on the espn website a lot for updates.
