OB said go to the ER?! T&P please **UPDATE**

Those of you who know me know I tend to be a huge worry wart. I've been sick with cold like symptoms since Thursday. I tried to be to tough and not intervene with Tylnol. Until last night. I only slept 4 hours and I decided enough is enough. Today the cold got progressively worse with chills and a low grade fever. OB suspects the flu so that's why I came to the ER. I'm currently in the evaluation room and I hope I get seen/tested soon. Of course IF brain is to blame for making me even more crazy! Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Also, anyone have experience with cold/flu while pregnant?

Update- thank you guys for the all positive vibes. I did test positive for influenza A and the Dr put me on Tamiflu for 5 days 2x a day. I feel a lot better already but still feel like death if you can imagine that. I was able to sleep a little better last night. Maybe 6 hours? The er dr said that the baby is oblivious to what's going on and should be just fine. That was very comforting to hear.

Oh no I hope they evaluate you quickly and get you on your way.

I got terribly sick with DD at 25/26 weeks. I had been fighting something and then got mandated on Christmas and worked 17 hours overnight.... I was vomiting, fever, aches, chills....miserable! I felt like death, but DD was perfectly oblivious to my state.

Fx it's not the flu and it passes fast!

I've had two awful colds so far, one in first tri when I couldn't take anything and one in second tri when my OB said it was ok to take Sudafed which did shit. DS didn't sleep well last night and woke up with a fever, cough and then congestion started. I'm sure since he was laying/coughing on me all day, that I'll be next in line. He passed his previous colds on to more, but DH was spared. Hope you get some rest and feel better quick!

ETA: Now I'm remembering with the second one, I also ended up with a horrible cough and URI and was given codeine cough med, antibiotic, albuterol inhaler and Advair inhaler.

I had a really nasty bug right around beta. Either a severe cold or mild fly. Actually took cold showers to bring my fever down. Very unpleasant!!

Hope this trip isn't too bad and that you don't have flu!

I'm sorry!  Hopefully it's not the flu and you start feeling better soon.  I've had 2 bad colds.  With the first one, I had a low grade fever after a couple of days - I think it was from a sinus infection I was fighting off.  In my totally non-professional opinion, I would think that if it really was the flu, you would have felt worse with a fever much earlier on.  Keep us posted!

I thought I was getting the flu last week, at 8 weeks.  It was sudden back pain, chills, sweats, nausea.  I took Tylenol and stayed in bed for a whole day.  It passed thankfully, but it was the same exact symptoms I had right before I got the flu last year.  And I get the flu shot every year.  Hope you feel better soon!

Tylenol didn't reduce your fever at all? Is that why you were sent to the ER?

It did for a short time but I had a fever at 4 (which is when I called my OB and he said to go), again at 6:30 (at the er) and again at 8:30 (when I was being discharged). Haven't had one since. Knock on wood.

Being sick and pregnant really is no
fun!! Just got over the flu. My OB treated me right in the office...took a Z-Pak for 5 days and I'm back to normal now! I must say the lack of sleep and stress of constantly thinking about your baby was the worst part..not even the lack of medicine! T&P for

I'm so sorry you're sick, but glad that you're finally starting to feel better.  It's good to hear that the baby isn't feeling it like you are.

Rest up, take your meds, and hopefully, you'll kick this before the holidays.
