Welcome to the October Check-In. This check-in is for anyone who has had a loss with an EDD in October.

Members, give us an update on how you are doing. If I didn’t tag you with specific questions, it’s only because we didn’t hear from you last time (or for a few weeks) - please jump back in. Please pop in and let us know how you’re doing even if you don’t have time to respond to everyone individually this week! New members, introduce yourself so that we can get to know you.

If you get a BFP, please PM me so everyone can congratulate you!

  • Hi everyone!

I hope mid-December finds everyone well.  I am about 36 hours away from my surgery for the fibroids and I am less than excited, but I am hopeful that it will allow us to continue our TTC journey in the New Year.

I am thinking about all of you.  I hope the holidays are kind to you.

QOTW: I think my favorite gift may be my Kitchen Aid mixer.  Or my engagement ring (though that wasn't for Christmas).

  • @meredithcarole good luck with the surgery! I'll be thinking about you and sending lots of T&Ps.

Indeed, the progesterone worked, so I'm finally done with the cycle from hell. The RE has been a whirlwind. My initial appointment was overwhelming, but I'm feeling better about it now. I had CD3 bloodwork on Friday, my ultrasound/SIS today, hysteroscopy & DH's SA Wednesday, and found out today I also have an x-ray Friday (whatever it's called where they check to see if your tubes are open).

The ultrasound today went pretty well. I'll get all the details when we do our follow-up consultation when all the testing is done, but just based on today my ute is a good size and shape, and one ovary looks good and is producing follicles. My left ovary, however, is full of cysts (about 9). I wasn't surprised, considering the initial reason I went to the RE was for PCOS.

I won't get any options/medicine until all of the testing is done, so in the meantime I'm just focusing on diet an exercise. I've been doing a lot of research, and I'm working on balancing my carb load throughout the day and limiting overall so I can stabilize my blood sugar and hopefully decrease the amount of excess insulin in my blood. I'm also limiting calories. I started that last week, and so far so good.

QOTW: My favorite Christmas gift has to be my dog, Scarlett. She's been my little buddy for the past 9 years, and I got her during a really rough period, which she helped me through. In second place, same as @meredithcarole I love my Kitchenaid Mixer. I got it from my mom, aunts, and grandma at my bridal shower this year, and I know they sacrificed to get it for me because they knew how much I wanted one.

I felt incredibly overwhelmed after my initial RE appointment, too. I am glad everything looked pretty good so far (except the cysts of course, but you kind of expected that). I hope the rest of the testing goes smoothly. Thank you for the T&P.

  • Thanks for the check in @meredithcarole what will your physical recover be like post-op? We will be thinking of you.

I am in my 2ww and really putting way more pressure on this cycle than is reasonable. I feel a big Christmas letdown coming along.

My favorite gift, that is a tough one. I can't recall any big ticket item  For some reason what sticks out in my head is how excited I was in middle school that my mom got me a BH 90210 sweatshirt, lol.

lol, I love that the 90210 sweatshirt stands out in your mind!

I can see that a Christmas 2WW is more nerve racking than usual. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is a Merry Chrsitmas all around.

As for my recovery, the readings I have found make it sound like it will be a bit rough. Hopefully it is not really that bad.

I'm checking in for the first time. I would love to join you ladies. My angel was due October 5th.

I took quite a long break from TB to deal with a lot of non TTCAL related stress, which of course effects being able to conceive.  All in all I'm doing ok.  I have goals in place that I need to start actually working on instead if thinking about (Losing weight for example, I know it doesn't help).

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Edited for question of the week answer!

Best gift I have ever received...hmm..  My husband sent me a necklace while he was deployed in Iraq.  It gave me something to hold on to and think of him.

Welcome to the October thread. I am sorry for your loss.

I hope you were able to eliminate some of the NTTCR stress. I certainly don't think excess stress is conducive to any bodily function so I agree that it is better when things are more mellow for your overall health.

  • Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA. I've been trying to process things in my own head so talking about my feelings has been hard.

Thank you for checking in @meredithcarole !

Last night DH and I had the conversation about how much more we can take... We agreed that if something is unfixabely wrong with either of us that suggests further losses, then we're done. Otherwise, 1 more loss and we're done. It's just crazy because SO MANY people mention that we're SO young, we just need to wait it out. I'd like to smack them in the face.

DH did surprise me and asked if we could look into foster care with the intent to adopt. It's something I've always wanted to do but NEVER thought he'd be open too.

QOTW: Hmmm... last year Dh bought me a Sillhouette Cameo... I've probably spent over 150 hours using it and I still love it.

I'm sorry things are so rough right now. I can completely understand why you are so emotionally raw right now. I am glad you and H are on the same page. It is certainly easy enough for those who have not been through a loss to dismiss it and say "try again," but there is a huge emotional toll and the threshold is different for everyone. I think it is great that DH is willing to consider adoption and that is something that you also would pursue. (((Hugs))). I hope the RPL testing goes well.

  • YorkieLove83 That is some deep stuff. Hugs. FX for you, hopefully no more bad news.
My friend sort of fell in to fostering when she decided her TTC journey had run out of options she was comfortable with and a family member was in need of foster placement shortly thereafter and she is so passionate about it now. As hard and complicated as it can get she absolutely does love this choice she made.

MrsSnyder124 Welcome to the check in. I hope things are looking up for you.

meredithcarole I hope the reports are wrong in your case and the recovery is easier than expected. You go in Friday correct?
