My husband and I got a great dane last night. Upon seeing me, she proceeded to jump on me and hit my bump kinda hard. I am going this morning to be checked but I'm scared. Any advice?
Unless there's cramping/bleeding- baby is fine. My boxer was rambunctious when I was pregnant with DS and would regularly take flying leaps onto my lap/belly when I was sitting down. She has since been trained and no longer does that, but I agree with PP- why would you get a large and untrained dog while pregnant? Regardless, baby is really well protected in there and should be fine as long as there's no bleeding and cramping. Word of advice : if you're going to keep the dog, hire a dog trainer or it will continue to happen.
Take that puppy to a puppy training course for socialization followed by a round of actual training somewhere reputable. I really enjoyed this with our dog when she was a pup and learned a lot about things. Now she's the most well-behaved dog and would never jump.
Dogs are so fun and add a lot to your family but you'll want to set those boundaries up now. Good luck!!
I get dog jumps all the time, and my dogs also like to walk over my belly. It sometimes hurts, but I know baby is fine, protected deep down there. I wouldn't worry.
I get dog punched in the belly almost daily, just a job hazard for me. The baby is really well cushioned at this point and I haven't had any problems with it so far. I haven't had any bleeding or cramping associated with it yet.
I would highly recommend training before that baby comes for your new dog!
I have a jumpy dog, but he's a tiny 16lbs and I don't worry. I would suggest training. Socialization courses were especially good as they taught him to use his calming signals while stressed...that can avoid problems when the baby pulls his tail, etc.
I have soecifically googled this question and found a blog with a doctor who wrote that the baby is protected pretty well and normally something like a toddler jumping on your belly or a dog isn't a problem.
That said, I still try to avoid my dog and cat these days when they're playing or excited. Every time anything heavy lands on your stomach and you're pregnant that's nerve-wracking.
I must be an under worrier because unless I was having a lot of pain and or bleeding I wouldn't even have thought twice about this, let alone worry enough to call my doctor.
I agree with others though, look into training for the dog before baby arrives. It's good for all involved but sounds like it would help ease your mind some if things like this really worry you.
I think one of the best things in the world for a kid, is a dog. Congrats! But like PP I would highly recommend getting it trained and having things under control before baby gets here. and I am sure baby is just fine but glad you are getting it checked if you are nervous! best of luck!
This happened to me and the dr only had me come in because I was cramping the whole day after. Baby was totally fine and they said baby was essentially in bubble wrap. The biggest concern they had wasn't necessarily the baby but more for the placenta but because I wasn't bleeding they didn't feel the need to do an ultrasound. No need to worry, baby is well protected!

My dog does this same exact thing- it's like this is his most comfy spot at the moment!
