Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): Di/Di Fraternal Boy/Girl twins!
Symptoms: Belly is in the way! Exhaustion
Appointment AW: We did an elective u/s on Thursday and found out we are having a boy and a girl! I have watched the DVD what feels like 100 times to double check those parts Actually a/s is next Tuesday and I will be glad to have a confirmation again. Haha.
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Crib was ordered...found one of the last websites that had the discontinued crib that DD used. Yay for matching cribs!!
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? So far most have been tame...I get a lot of "Wow you will be huge!" and questions of how long I will teach my fitness classes. I also ran into one of my class participants who was eating lunch and the woman looked at me and said "Well, you'll be on bed rest." Thank goodness the woman told her how I was her instructor and super active in my last pregnancy. I mean, I know it's a possibility but I am going to cross my fingers I can keep working out!
Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): di/di...at least one boy according to MaterniT21 test
Symptoms: Intense round ligament pain over past week or so, making it tough to sleep. As soon as I get up and move around, it's so much better. Belly is out!!
Appointment AW: Check-up on 12/15 and anatomy scan on 12/29. Can't wait to see if we are having two boys or one of each!!
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Any tricks to a good night's sleep? I have my body pillow, but the stretching pain makes it tough. Should I expect major stretching pains throughout the second and third trimesters?
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? Multiple people (including DH) wondering how big my belly will get and that they looked forward to watching it happen. Today, a co-worker said "Congratulations?" like he wasn't sure if it was something to be congratulated on. I think he was kidding?
Week/Fruit - 19 with 2 Mangos
Twin Type - Fraternal
Symptoms - Headaches and lower back pain so I started seeing a chiropractor
Appointment AW - We had our anatomy scan and are having 2 girls!
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns - Sleeping is getting more difficult by the day and I'm only halfway there!
QOTW - Not funny at all but today we called my MIL to tell her the news and it was a clear disappointment that we are having 2 more girls (we have a 13 month old DD) then she proceeded with "please be done after this." WTF.
-------
For your time I leave you with this..I think it's the cutest thing ever but I may be biased!
Symptoms: I get out of breath really easily and I'm totally exhausted all the time.
Appointment AW: Had a quick ultrasound today at my OB. He said it's 2 boys! 16 weeks seems pretty early to know but hey, I will take it! Level 2 ultrasound/early anatomy scan tomorrow at MFM so I will confirm before I start to get too excited.
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Anyone else find out the sex at 16 weeks? Also, if I lay on my back or sit down for awhile, my upper right butt cheek hurts. I don't know if it's a nerve or something else and I totally forgot to ask my doctor today.
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? Ummmm well my husband's friends wife who is having a difficult time conceiving asked me (with a straight face) if she could have one... I didn't really know how to even respond to that.
@crarnberg How rude!! Although since we already have a DD, DH hinted at maybe trying again if these two were girls. I nearly fell out in the floor. I AM done for sure!
Symptoms: hungry all the time again (think its the babies growth spurt time ) insomnia if i wake up in middle of night
Appointment AW: Friday. I am anxiously waiting to see my babies and make sure they are doing good
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: I think I have been feeling flutters. Its a weird feeling ive never felt in the lower part of my bump but idk. its not gas bc well nothing happens after hahah
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? you are going to be huge.... today someone told me you have to be careful for birth defects bc her sister in law has twins and 1 is deaf.... UMM...... and ive gotten a few times if ive dont fertility treatments. That doesn;t really bother me i just find it funny bc I never would have thought that.
Week/Fruits: 15w3d/ fruit?? I am missing something here...is this supposed to be the fruit that the baby is the size of? I think I read it was an apple maybe.
Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): Mo/Di identical
Symptoms: Constant stuffy nose, tired a lot easier and earlier
Appointment AW: Have an appointment with a new OB tomorrow and I am super nervous! I know I shouldn't be but I always get nervous right before appointments.
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: My original OB sucked so I am switching. He was such a douche.
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? NOTreally funny or weird, more like annoying. Told one pregnant friend I was having twins and she tells me she "prayed really hard for twins" Ooookay. Not sure how to respond to that. "Sorry you are only having one." "Sorry you did not get a harder and more high risk pregnancy."
@breezyweezer That is one of the strangest things to me. SO many people have said they wanted twins, wished they would have had twins, were hoping for twins and so forth. Here I am terrified of all the things that could happen! I feel like it's the puppy syndrome...Oh look it's so cute! I want a puppy. Oh wait...that was more work than anticipated
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? I was asked how long I did IVF for. When I responded with "actually they are spontaneous" I was told I shouldn't lie about it because it diminishes my struggle. Um, what?
Good grief! Talk about taking a large leap over being tactful? I probably would have given a blank stare after that...wtf?
Week 16. Fruit apple. Twin type mo/di. Symptoms fatigue and nausea at night. Appointment found out the sex recently! Feeling stressed out by other people's opinions and them not listening or respecting that ultimately it's nut their decision.
Week 17- onions Type- fraternal symptoms- congestion, headaches and nausea appointment- tomorrow and anatomical scan on 12/26 Funniest comment- my 14 year old niece saw my belly and freaked out. She asked if I was pregnant again, I said yes, She said, "Good luck with that! Your going to need a van! " I have a DD who is 20 months. Lol
Symptoms: Recently I've been getting out of breath/short of breath for no reason. Like, sometimes while I'm laying on the couch. Anyone else having this? I can't possibly be far enough along that my lungs are compressed...right? I actually called my doctor's office yesterday afternoon and haven't heard back. Grr.
Appointment AW: No appointment until next week
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Thanks for your feedback on my recent MFM question. I think I'm going to ask my doctor if I can see one in addition to him.
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? Some PPs covered good ones. I never know what to say when people say they wish/ed for twins. Twins were a huge fear of mine, and of course a twin pregnancy comes with a lot of risks. But, it's not like I would give one of them up! So I usually just smile and nod. One that kind of (irrationally) bugs me is "were you surprised?" I feel like it's either a sneaky way of asking if we did fertility treatments (which we did, but I don't share with everyone) or just a mindless question. Isn't everyone surprised? In my head I'm saying, "well, no, because we did it in the twin position."
Symptoms: Uncomfortable sleeping at night with bouts of insomnia. Can't seem to get enough mandarin oranges - random, I know!
Appointment AW: 12/18 - next week
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: I'm having a lot of anxiety about delivering these twinks. It's not the pain, as I've had a couple tattoos with no issue, but it's more the things that MIGHT go wrong...all our friends' delivery stories don't help either.
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins?
Same as pp - you are going to be huge! Get ready for bed rest. And the best "are you going to deliver vaginally?" and that was from a friend's husband - TMI!!
Week/Fruits: 15/16 weeks ( I never post on the correct day and by time I remember I am already in my next week.)
Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): Di/DI I have s suspicions that they are identical GIRLS Edit-- I know they are girls but I have suspicion they are identical.
Symptoms: Right now I am dealing with the worst back pain ever. A little of carrying twin but mainly from yesterday's spinal anesthesia.
Appointment AW: I seen my Ob on Thursday, he was called to a delivery in so we only got a quick peek at the girls to hear heartbeats. I don't think he has a doppler in his office. On Friday we went to my MFM appointment, we found out the sex of them and then the tech did some measurements, when she got to my cervix she got the "oh no" look. When she measured the cervix she started off 99 questions. She went to get the doctor and he came in explained I need a cerclage because of how much the cervix has shortened (at 12 weeks it was 3.7 CM at 16 weeks it was 1.7 CM) and there was funneling as well as blood floating around. He did some more measurements of the babies and then went on to more details about the cerclage why he thinks I should do it. He called my OB and my OB didn't agree with the cerclage. The MFM asked what I wanted to do, so I left the appointment to go straight to the hospital for my cerclage to be placed. I was in the hospital for what seemed like eternity! I am on bed rest until my appointment on the 23rd.
Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Bed rest sucks and it has only been one day. I have always imagined the day that I could just lay in bed all day and be waited on hand and foot (which my boys have been doing all day) but holy hell this SUCKS! Also water sucks because we have a no drinks upstair policy in our house I only get water.
QOTW: What has been the funniest/weirdest comment or question received so far about having twins? Being asked by nurses and medical assistants if they are natural, it always makes me question what they know. I keep getting the do twins run on your husband's side question, he has heard it enough that he say I do have twins but her eggs made the twins not my family.
@lakingsfan2015 On my other BMB, one of our moms had Di/Di boys that did turn out to be identical. They were also mirror if I'm not mistaken.
The only set of twins on my A06 BMB were di/di boys. The doctors told the mom there were fraternal. At 9 months she had the Genetic test done, they are identical. She is Rh positive so they didn't bother to blood type the boys at the hospital. Since I am Rh negative they will blood type the girls. When I deliver if the girls have the same blood type I will get the genetic test done.
